NMA YARAMATU MEMORIAL FOUNDATION HOSTS 4TH QURANIC COMPETITION & PRESENTS SCHOLARSHIP TO 30 STUDENTS

The Nma Yaramatu Memorial Foundation hosted its fourth annual Quranic Competition, sixth Maulud & second annual scholarship award for students in Bida and its environs.

Under the leadership of Sarki Arewa Nupe, Engr. Ismail Usman Sarki, the foundation organized the event to reward academic excellence and promote Islamic values as thirty students were awarded scholarships based on their outstanding performance in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination, with a minimum qualifying score set at 220 marks, out of the beneficiaries, fourteen students who scored above the benchmark received ₦500,000 each, while the remaining students were presented with a consolation award of ₦200,000 each in addition to participants in the Quranic competition who emerged as first runners-up received ₦150,000 each.

2025 JAMB AWARD ANNOUNCEMENT

We are delighted to update the general public as follows:

1. The Foundation has successfully screened and ranked the 30 applicants shortlisted out of a total of 68 applications received.

2. All the applicants JAMB results have been successfully verified by JAMB HQ in Abuja

3. As previously announced the criteria used for the ranking include, JAMB scores, performance at the two interviews conducted, gender and age. The scores obtained on each of these were aggregated to provide the total score for each candidate.

4. The two interviews assessed the candidates confidence, clarity of thought and the need for financial support to further their education.

5. Based on the position in ranked list, Eleven (11) candidates, who are indigenes of Bida Local Government Area, will each receive a ₦500,000 award to support their tertiary education.

6. Five (5) candidates from other local government areas will receive ₦500,000 each to support their tertiary education.

7. Fourteen (14) remaining applicants will receive a consolation award of ₦200,000 each to assist them in pursuing their tertiary education.

8. Attached is the ranked list showing the evaluation system and the total scores obtained by each candidate.

9. As previously communicated, a condition to receive the award remain successful 2025/2026 admission into any tertiary institution as evidenced by JAMB admission letter and institution admission confirmation letter.

10. All candidates are therefore urged to submit copy of their admission letter as soon as possible. Till date 14 out of the 30 candidates have submitted their admission letters.

11. As soon as majority of candidates submit their admission evidence, the date for the award ceremony will be communicated.

12. Attendance at the award ceremony is compulsory

13. Hence all candidates are strongly encouraged to submit copy of their JAMB admission letter for 2025/2026 academic session as soon as possible

14. We will like to congratulate all candidates for their applications and thank them for their patience as we navigate through the rigorous process.

NMA YARAMATU MEMORIAL FOUNDATION – 2025 JAMB AWARD UPDATE

The NMA Yaramatu Memorial Foundation is delighted to provide an update on its 2025 JAMB Award initiative. A total of 68 applications were received from candidates across Nupe-speaking communities and indigenes. After a transparent and rigorous process, 30 candidates were successfully shortlisted. 25 of the shortlisted candidates were interviewed and screened on Saturday, 2nd August 2025 at the Nma Yaramatu Memorial International School, Bida. After the screening exercise, the candidates had a brief mentoring session with the foundation founder, Engr Ismaila Usman Sarki, Sarkin Arewa Nupe and other members of the board of trustees.

The remaining candidates that could not attend physical screening for valid reasons were subsequently screened and interviewed virtually.

The Foundation Board wishes to inform the public and all applicants as follows:

1. All the 30 shortlisted candidates have passed the screening and interview and will therefore be considered for the final ranking process to identify the top 15 winners of the cash award.

2. The final selection ranking process will be based JAMB score, interview performance, age, gender and family background.

3. All submitted JAMB Results will be dully verified directly with JAMB offices in Abuja

4. Possession of a valid admission letter remains a key criterion for the award. All Shortlisted candidates are strongly advised to submit their admission letters (from a University, Polytechnic, or College of Education) through the same channels they used for their initial application as soon as possible.

5. As earlier communicated, the top 15 winners will each receive a cash award of ₦500,000—with 10 slots reserved for candidates from Bida and 5 slots for candidates from other local government areas. There will be consolation prizes for some of the remaining candidates to be determined by the board.

6. The Foundation aims to conclude all processes and announce final awardees before 31st October 2025 and the final award disbursement shortly afterward. Date to be determined by when the majority of candidates have received their university admission letters.

7. We appreciate the patience and cooperation of all applicants and the general public as we finalize this impactful initiative.

UNLOCKING POTENTIALS THROUGH EDUCATION

On Saturday, 2nd August 2025, Nma Yaramatu Memorial International School, Bida, marked a significant milestone as it hosted its First Annual Speech and Prize Giving Day at the school premises.

The event showcased a series of captivating academic exhibitions and presentations from both the conventional and Islamic sections of the school. It was a moment of pride and celebration, reflecting the school’s commitment to holistic education and moral upbringing.

The occasion was graced by an array of distinguished personalities including Shaba Nupe, Lukpan Nupe, Dan Maje Nupe, Tsaduya Nupe, Kachala Nupe, Dan Gata Nupe, Magaji Rafi Raba Nupe, Dan Marwa Nupe, Rani Raba Nupe, wife of the proprietor, the Education Secretary of Bida Local Education Authority, the Principal of Jiwo Academy, and several other notable dignitaries, community leaders, and education stakeholders.

Guests were highly impressed by the brilliance and confidence displayed by the pupils during their various presentations. Many of the dignitaries applauded the school’s unique blend of academic and Islamic learning and encouraged the general public to enrol their children and wards, as the school truly lives by its inspiring motto:
"Unlock Your Potential, Embrace Education."
This motto was visibly brought to life throughout the day's activities, reinforcing the school's vision of nurturing future leaders through quality education and discipline.

In his closing remarks, the Proprietor of the School expressed heartfelt gratitude to all attendees, parents, and supporters who came out to celebrate this historic and memorable occasion. He reaffirmed the school’s firm commitment to academic excellence, moral values, and community development.

SARKIN AREWA NUPE GRACES GRAND FINALE OF BEQURCC IN BIDA

On Monday, 4th August 2025, Alhaji Ismail Usman Sarki, the highly revered Sarkin Arewa Nupe, honoured the grand finale of the Bida Emirate Qur’an Recitation Competition Committee (BEQURCC) held at the Wadata Palace, Bida.

He served as Chairman of the Occasion, a role bestowed upon him in recognition of his steadfast contributions to the promotion of the Glorious Qur’an and the advancement of Islam, particularly through his renowned philanthropic initiative, the Nma Yaramatu Memorial Foundation. Sarkin Arewa Nupe’s dedication and sacrifices in this noble cause have earned him a distinguished reputation across the entire Emirate.

In his address, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr. Yahaya Abubakar CFR, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, for deeming him worthy of such a prestigious honour. He also extended his appreciation to the Bida Emirate Qur'an Recitation Competition Committee (BEQURCC) Organizing Committee, urging them to always uphold the fear of Allah in the discharge of their duties.

In a further show of commitment, Sarkin Arewa Nupe made a generous financial donation, aimed at motivating the participants and supporting the sustainability of the Qur’anic competition. He also pledged his continuous support to the Bida Emirate Council and its religious initiatives.

The Etsu Nupe, alongside other dignitaries, organizers, and committee members, expressed their profound appreciation for Sarkin Arewa Nupe’s support. They acknowledged that if more individuals followed in his footsteps, the BEQURCC would reach even greater heights.

The event witnessed the presence of the Etsu Nupe himself, prominent traditional titleholders, religious scholars, and invited guests from across the Emirate.
