Nigeria doesn’t have a youth problem. We have a leadership problem. At the WeCare Leadership Conference 2026, Prof. Attahiru Jega made a statement that deserves serious reflection: Nigerian youths are innovative, creative, talented and capable of solving real problems, but the system often fails to create the environment they need to thrive. Perhaps the most uncomfortable part is this: We cannot complain about bad leadership while completely abandoning the political space. Many young Nigerians are building businesses, creating content, learning tech and chasing opportunities, and rightly so. But who will make the decisions that shape the environment in which all these innovations survive? Jega argues that young people must move beyond being mere spectators. We need to participate as voters, citizens, party members, advocates, and even candidates. So here is the question: Should young Nigerians focus more on building outside the political system, or should we start taking over the system from within? What do you think? 👇🏼

One of the most candid moments at WLC 2026 came during our fireside chat, where two young leaders opened up about what it really takes to lead early and lead well.

Muhammad Sani Kassim, PMP, Public Sector Reform Expert, and Zainab Saidu Idris, Creative Director, Creativity Enthusiast Network and Co-Founder, 25th Feb Studios, shared honest reflections on the wins, the setbacks, and the lessons that shaped their journeys.

The conversation was warmly moderated by Nafisatu Abubakar, Strategist and Development Practitioner, who created space for a refreshingly unfiltered exchange.

In a room full of young people navigating their own leadership journeys, this session was a reminder that leading young is not about having it all figured out. It's about showing up, learning fast, and staying honest about the process.

One of the standout moments at WLC 2026 was the panel discussion challenging attendees to rethink what leadership truly means beyond title and position.

We were honoured to host Anna Hussaini Pai, Founder and CEO, Yargote Foundation for Children, Youth and Women Development; Muhammad Salis Gamawa, CEO, Golgam Space Limited; Hon. Sagir Musa, Commissioner, Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Jigawa State; Mallam Myani Bukar, Senior Public Policy Strategist, Legal Scholar, and International Development Expert; and Mal. hayatudeen Babamaji, Director General, Bureau for ICT and Digital Economy, Bauchi State.

The session was skilfully moderated by Jane Mann-Effiong, Founder, The Gem Initiative, who guided a rich exchange of perspectives from government, entrepreneurship, policy, and technology.

Their conversation reaffirmed the conference theme, Driving Youth Innovation and Alternative Solutions: Pathway to Nation Building: leadership is not about the seat you occupy, but the impact you choose to create.
Thank you to our panelists and moderator for a session that will stay with everyone in that room.

We Care Centre for Community Awareness and Empowerment Initiative is pleased to announce the formalisation of a strategic partnership with Sustainable Development Conversations Initiative (SDCI), following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between both organisations yesterday.

The engagement was led by We Care Centre's Founder and CEO, Dr. Jamila Mohammed Dahiru Ph.D, and Programs Director, Hafsat Fadila Aliyu , alongside SDCI's CEO, Sulaiman Fanty, and Partnerships Lead, Shahid Sirajo jahun The meeting centred on identifying areas of shared interest and exploring opportunities for collaboration between both organisations.

The MoU establishes a formal framework through which We Care Centre and SDCI will combine their respective strengths, networks and programmes in pursuit of shared objectives, including sustainable development, youth participation, civic engagement and community strengthening.

The visit also provided an opportunity to reinforce, through direct engagement, a relationship that has developed over a period of ongoing dialogue and mutual interest. We Care Centre commends SDCI's institutional capacity, particularly its well-resourced studio facility, which presents significant opportunities for collaboration in storytelling, development communication, youth engagement and knowledge sharing.

We Care Centre further recognises the calibre and commitment of the team at SDCI, whose professionalism and dedication reflect the values that underpin this partnership.

As We Care Centre continues to expand its programmatic reach, this partnership reflects our institutional commitment to collaborative approaches that maximise impact. We believe that organisations achieve more when they combine their respective strengths in pursuit of shared goals.

With the MoU now formally executed, both organisations look forward to translating this partnership into coordinated action and measurable outcomes.
