We continued our stakeholder engagement with advocacy visit to Sarkin Alkaleri at his palace in Alkaleri LGA.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss our ongoing intervention focused on supporting and empowering adolescent girls. It was an important opportunity to engage traditional leadership in conversations that directly impact the wellbeing and future of young girls in the community.

We were warmly received by Sarkin Alkaleri, who expressed strong appreciation for the initiative. He described the intervention as both timely and necessary, acknowledging the critical need to invest in adolescent girls at this moment. Most encouragingly, he pledged his full support and offered prayers for the success of the intervention.

On Day 2 of the Youth GBV Prevention Ambassadors Training, we hosted His Worship Maigari Sani, Senior Magistrate, Bauchi State Judiciary.

He delivered a powerful and eye-opening session on the legal framework guiding the protection of women, girls, and children in Nigeria. The session covered:

⚖️ The Nigerian Constitution
⚖️ The VAPP Law
⚖️ The Child Rights Act
⚖️ Relevant provisions of the Penal Code

His Worship broke down these laws in simple, practical terms, helping the ambassadors understand not just what the law says, but how it protects individuals and what steps can be taken when rights are violated.

This session strengthened our ambassadors’ confidence to speak up, report cases appropriately, and advocate for justice within their schools and communities.

At Ikra Foundation for Women & Youth Development, we believe knowledge of the law is power — and today, our young change agents are more empowered than ever. 💙⚖️

Yesterday our Head of Operations and Program, Mr. Huzaifa Abubakar, led an engaging and powerful session with our Youth GBV Prevention Ambassadors, equipping them with critical skills on:

🔹 Bystander Intervention Techniques – how to safely and confidently step in, speak up, and support survivors when witnessing Gender-Based Violence.
🔹 Digital Advocacy – using social media and online platforms strategically to raise awareness and amplify prevention messages.
🔹 Online Safety – protecting themselves and others while advocating in digital spaces.

The session was interactive and action-oriented. Our ambassadors are not just learning — they are preparing to become responsible change agents both offline and online.

At Ikra Foundation, we are committed to building a generation of informed, courageous, and ethical youth leaders who will stand against GBV in their schools and communities.

Yesterday was not just another training day - it was the beginning of a movement.

We officially kicked off the Youth GBV Prevention Ambassadors Capacity Building for 20 outstanding students selected from 10 secondary schools across Bauchi State under the ActionAid Nigeria MAP-GBV Project in collaboration with Bauchi State ministry of women affairs, Judiciary and Bauchi State agency for PWDs

These are not just students sitting in a classroom. They are young leaders who have chosen courage over silence. Young people who are ready to challenge harmful norms, question injustice, and stand up against Gender-Based Violence in their schools and communities.

Over the coming sessions, they will gain the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to:

✅Recognize and prevent GBV

✅Speak up safely and responsibly

✅Support peers experiencing violence

✅Lead awareness activities in their schools

We are not just training participants — we are shaping change agents.

Bauchi State needs young voices that refuse to normalize violence. And yesterday, 20 of those voices said, “We are ready.”

The journey has begun. The impact will ripple far beyond the classroom walls.
