Our Lead Coordinator/Founder Kay Gee has one desire: to see every child reading. Not just any book, but the Bible.

When Kangyang Gana newly moved to Jebbu Miango with her family, she started gathering community children in her home every Sunday for discipleship. Then came a question: Can these children read the Bible for themselves?

That question revealed a need, and weekly literacy classes began with volunteers who willingly gave their time to help the children learn to read.

Fast forward to today, and look how far we’ve come!

Our learners are reading! Some are reading confidently, others are still learning, but every step counts. And this video is a glimpse of how far we’ve come.

It all started with one person’s burden and her willingness to respond.

What if our founder had said no? What if she had never started?

Sometimes, one person’s yes can change the course of many lives.

Yesterday, we had the honor of welcoming the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction - Fed Min of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Dr. Bernard M. Doro, to the Jebbu Miango Library and Resource Centre!

We are deeply grateful to Dr. Bernard Doro for prioritizing a visit to our center, listening to our story, and seeing firsthand the impact of our work in the community.

We stand fully aligned with the Ministry’s vision—equally committed to empowering underserved communities and working together to eradicate poverty across Nigeria.

Today marks the beginning of our 8-week curriculum testing, developed with our partners, Custodians of African Literature - COAL and Uplifting Our Children

We started with a baseline assessment in literacy and numeracy, focusing on learners who are still struggling with basic foundational skills.

Our goal is simple: understand where they are and help them grow.

Assessment should lead to growth.

Every student learns differently, and assessments help teachers understand those differences. They show what learners understand, where they need support, and what teaching approaches are working.

For students, assessment provides a clear picture of their progress. Meaningful feedback helps them recognize their strengths, improve their weaknesses, and take greater ownership of their learning.

Assessment isn’t just about measuring learning, it’s about using what we learn to help every student grow.
