We’re already in the age of superintelligence”
According to OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, we’ve already crossed the line into the era of superintelligence — and most people haven’t even noticed.
🗣️ “We’ve passed the event horizon — the shift has already started. Humanity’s getting really close to building digital superintelligence, and honestly, it feels way more normal than you’d expect.”
In his latest blog post, Altman says AI is already outperforming humans in things like coding and data analysis — and that’s just the beginning. He reckons by 2026, AI will start coming up with genuinely original ideas. By 2027, robots could be handling real-world jobs. And by 2030, there could be so much intelligence and energy available that creating new tech or tools might become almost instant.
He describes this shift as a “gentle singularity.” It’s not going to hit like a big explosion. Instead, AI will quietly keep improving behind the scenes, while life goes on like normal. Then one day, everything’s changed — but it kind of crept up on us.
So if all this is happening now, why does the world still feel pretty much the same?
Are we just adapting so fast we don’t notice, or are we drifting into a future we don’t fully understand — without realising it?
