A child who learns to read doesn't just gain a school skill.

They gain access to knowledge, opportunities, information and confidence.

This is why we are kick-starting Learn Initiative through Learn Reads and Learn Leads in schools in Benin City.

But we don't want to stop with the schools we've started with.

We want to provide learning materials, support sessions and create more opportunities for young people to learn, grow and lead.

For Miss Melody, volunteering with OSFEE has helped her understand something essential: communication and teamwork can determine how well people work together.

Working with the HR/Admin Team has given her opportunities to interact, collaborate, communicate better and understand the importance of working with people toward a shared goal.

Because volunteering isn't only about what you give.

It's also about what you learn, develop and carry with you.

The needs in our communities are too big, and the opportunities to create change are too many, for one organisation to carry alone.

That is why partnership matters.

At Aso Pada, our Care Programme created space for health awareness, education and conversations that can help people make better decisions about their wellbeing.

Sometimes, impact doesn't look dramatic.

Sometimes, it looks like people sitting together, listening, asking questions and learning something they can take home.

And that matters.

It’s so sad when the impact we could make is limited not because the need isn’t there, but because we don’t have enough hands to reach further.

Behind every number on this card is a person, a family, a young person or a community that was reached through the work of OSFEE.

But 1,012 beneficiaries cannot be the finish line.

There are still more people to reach, more opportunities to create and more communities to serve.

We believe we can do more when we do it together.

YOU CAN’T BELIEVE THIS 😮...

We’ve been talking about the Learns Initiative.

We’ve been planning it, building it, and imagining what it could mean for young people.

Now, it’s here.

This term, Orange Sky Foundation for Education and Empowerment (OSFEE) is officially taking the Learn Initiative to UNILEC International School, Oluku, Benin City.

And this partnership feels even more special.

UNILEC has been serving and educating young people for over 20 years. In 2024, they were beneficiaries of our Back to School Support Drive, now known as Learn Supplies.

When we presented the Learn Initiative to them, their excitement was immediate. They were eager to see how we could work together beyond a single intervention.

So, we decided to build something that could continue.

Starting this term, students at UNILEC will be part of two Learn Initiative programmes:

📚 Learn Reads: creating stronger reading and learning experiences for primary Pupils.

🌱 Learn Leads: helping Junior and Senior Secondary School Students develop confidence, responsibility, leadership and the capacity to positively influence others.

And this is only the beginning.

We believe education is not just about putting something in a child's hands. Sometimes, it is about giving them the knowledge, confidence and opportunity to discover what they can become.

The conversation has started.
The partnership is here.
And the work begins.

But we cannot do this alone.

If you believe young people deserve opportunities to learn, grow and lead, you can be part of it too.
