But ask yourself: Do you wish to become a father-in-law or mother-in-law someday?
That son-in-law or daughter-in-law may be among the children you care less about today.
The children we despise, neglect or ignore today may grow up to become tomorrow’s challenge to society.
But together, we can make a difference.

O God of all nations, and peoples, and tongues. You long revealed Yourself in special ways almost exclusively to Israel, but now You are taking a people for Your glory, Your Church, from among all nations of the earth. Though diverse in many ways, we are one in You and unite in the purpose of glorifying Your name. Amen.

Here great glory is given to God by the recognition of the fact that He has granted repentance, leading to life, to all nations and not only to Israel. Notice that repentance is spoken of as something God "grants" and that it was necessary for "life." Also note that it was something new and radical that God would take a people for his name from among the Gentiles; it was not simply a continuation of what had always been.
