ADIS/IRARA participated in a Capacity Building Training on Psychosocial Support, Case Management and Sustainable Reintegration Programming for CSOs and Key Stakeholders, currently taking place in Abuja.

The training is being held under the RECONNECT Project, funded by GIZ and co-organized by ActionAid and CSOnetMADE, bringing together organizations and key stakeholders committed to strengthening support systems for returnees and vulnerable populations.

So far, the sessions have provided practical learning on key areas of case management and reintegration, including:

Identifying trauma in returnees
Self-care and wellbeing for case workers
Building resilience
Dimensions of sustainable reintegration
Psychological First Aid (PFA)
Survivor-Centred & Trauma-Informed Approaches and Interventions

The training also provided an important space for organizations and stakeholders to exchange experiences, strengthen professional skills, and explore more effective ways of supporting individuals throughout their reintegration journeys.

We were pleased to learn and collaborate alongside representatives from SEYP, Genuis Hub, Edo State Migration Agency, Legal Aid, and other participating organizations.

At ADIS/IRARA, we recognize that successful reintegration goes beyond economic support—it also requires psychosocial wellbeing, dignity, safety, resilience, and compassionate case management.

When those supporting returnees are better equipped, communities are better prepared to help people rebuild, recover, and thrive.

ADIS was proud to participate in the launch of the Girls Power Initiative (GPI) project, titled “Strengthening Community Resilience to Human Trafficking in Edo State.”

The project brings together stakeholders and community actors to strengthen prevention efforts, raise awareness, and build safer, more resilient communities where girls and young people can thrive free from exploitation and trafficking.

At ADIS, we believe that lasting change begins with empowered individuals and informed communities. By working together, sharing knowledge, and strengthening local responses, we can help create stronger protective systems for those most at risk.

On 27 August 2026, ADIS/IRARA Nigeria convened the UK Returnee Support Group Capacity Building & Inauguration in Lagos, bringing together UK returnees and key stakeholders for a day of learning, reflection, collaboration, and renewed commitment to successful reintegration.

The event provided a platform for returnees to strengthen their capacity to support one another, engage their communities, and draw on their lived experiences to promote informed conversations around safe migration, return and reintegration.

Through interactive sessions on psychosocial wellbeing, safe migration, peer advocacy, entrepreneurship, and financial resilience, participants gained practical knowledge and tools to navigate their reintegration journeys while building stronger networks of mutual support.

A key highlight of the event was the formal inauguration of the UKHO Returnee Support Group, establishing a sustainable platform for peer engagement, community advocacy, experience-sharing, and mutual support beyond the event.

We were pleased to have representatives from BHC/UKHORP, NCFRMI, FMLE/MRC, SMEDAN, and NDE join us and contribute to this important conversation.

Together, we continue to promote a reintegration approach where returnees are not only supported, but are empowered to become voices of experience, agents of change, and advocates for safer migration.

Another successful cycle of empowering young humanitarians!

As a way of contributing knowledge and expertise back to the society, had the privilege of hosting 10 interns from the social work department, . Our interns completed eight impactful training weeks, gaining practical skills in advocacy, protection, reintegration support, and community engagement.

It was also truly heartwarming to receive positive feedback from the interns on the impact of our work on them.

The future of humanitarian work is bright!
