WORLD PHARMACISTS DAY MESSAGE

My dear colleagues and fellow pharmacists,
Today, we join pharmacists across the globe to mark World Pharmacists Day.
This special day was created by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) to showcase the vital role of pharmacists in healthcare.
It reminds the world that access to quality healthcare begins with access to safe medicines.
It also highlights the expertise of trained pharmacists as key to saving lives.
The theme for this year, “Think Health, Think Pharmacist,” is more than a slogan.
It is a strong call to action for patients, policymakers, and stakeholders in healthcare.
It urges them to see pharmacists as essential partners in prevention, treatment, and recovery.
There can be no sustainable healthcare system without pharmacists at its heart.
Here in Anambra State, this theme reflects our daily experience as professionals.
Pharmacists remain the most accessible healthcare providers in our communities today.
For many families, we are the first and sometimes the only point of contact for health advice.
We safeguard lives by ensuring medicines are safe, genuine, affordable, and well utilized.
Whether in hospitals, community pharmacies, industry, academia, or regulation, we serve daily.
We are the bridge between science and humanity, and between policies and communities.
Pharmacists connect innovation to patient care and shape public health outcomes.
Our work links decisions made in offices to lives saved in villages and cities.
Despite these contributions, our profession faces serious and persistent challenges.
The menace of counterfeit medicines continues to endanger lives and weaken public trust.
Quacks and illegal operators have infiltrated the pharmacy space to exploit vulnerable citizens.
Many pharmacists also face poor pay, weak infrastructure, and underutilization of their skills.
Even in these difficult circumstances, I have seen extraordinary resilience among colleagues.
Some work through the night to secure life-saving medicines for patients in need.
Others mentor students and young pharmacists to ensure a strong future for our profession.
These acts are laying the foundation for a safer drug distribution system across the state.
We must remember that true progress is never achieved in adversity or division.
If we are to overcome these challenges, we must stand together as one united body.
Every pharmacist must see another pharmacist’s challenge as their personal challenge.
An injustice to one pharmacist is an injustice to all, within the boundaries of the law.
Every technical group must support the others for our collective success as professionals.
Unity is our greatest strength in protecting the profession and the health of our people.
Only by working together can we secure a strong future for pharmacy practice in Anambra.
Solidarity will transform our vision into real and lasting progress for the state.
As your Chairman, I reaffirm our commitment to your welfare and professional growth.
PSN Anambra will continue to advocate for policies that protect the public and pharmacists.
We are working to position pharmacy as a cornerstone of modern healthcare delivery.
Your participation and commitment are essential to this shared vision of excellence.
Leadership is not only about those who hold official positions in our Society.
Every pharmacist must lead by upholding ethics and integrity in their daily work.
We must mentor younger colleagues so that the profession never lacks visionary leaders.
We must also innovate and speak out so our voices are heard by those in authority.
Today is a time to express gratitude to all pharmacists across our dear state.
Your dedication and sacrifices form the unseen backbone of the healthcare system.
Every prescription you check and every counterfeit medicine you intercept saves lives.
Your daily actions continue to strengthen trust between our profession and the public.
As we celebrate, let us recommit to a future free of counterfeit medicines and quackery.
Let us work for a system where pharmacists are valued and fairly compensated for their roles.
Our communities must come to understand that pharmacists are essential to their health.
When they think health, they must always think pharmacist.
The world is watching how we rise to this noble challenge as a profession.
Let us move forward united, ethical, and relentless in our pursuit of excellence.
Let this year’s celebration inspire us to serve with compassion and integrity.
