Earlier today, the Rotaract Club of Awka GRA CB in partnership with other Rotaract Clubs in Anambra and Rotary Clubs in Zone 13 and other environmental impact organization carried out a project tagged: ENVIRONMENT, which is in line with one of the Rotary's area of focus: ENVIRONMENT.

Rotaractors and Rotarians were seen together with some of the staff of Anambra State Waste Management Agency (ASWAMA)

Major refuse dumps in Awka were cleared. This action is a wake up call to the residents of the state on the need to keep the environment clean for a healthy living.

Present at the exercise were; Assistant Governor Zone 13, Rtn. Sr. Yves Mary Virginia Obi; President Rotary Club of Awka, Rtn. Chioma IKEBUDU, Rotaract Club of Awka GRA, Rtr. Kingsley Chikamso CHIDIOBI; President Rotaract Club of Orumba Municipal, Rtr. Doris ONYEANUSI; Others were members of Rotaract Club of Awka Gateway, Rotaract Club of Charles Boromea College of Nursing Science.

*Project Alert*

Peace is not merely an option; it is a fundamental and sacred necessity in human society. While conflict is an inevitable part of human history, individuals must actively strive to achieve and maintain peace. Recognizing this important principle, Rotary International has designated February as a month dedicated to peace and conflict resolution. During this time, seminars and workshops are organized to remind individuals that peace is essential, and to encourage them to eschew behaviors that may lead to societal discord.

In light of this commitment, the Rotary Club of Awka Urban, along with the Rotary Clubs of Awka Metropolis, Awka Smithtown, and Awka GRA, in partnership with Rotaract clubs in Anambra and the Interact Club of Dormition of Mary College Nanka, will conduct a peace initiative on February 23, 2026. This initiative will take place in the streets of Awka and will involve collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), and the Red Cross Society of Awka. The goal of this initiative is to encourage all members of the community to work towards peace and to promote harmony within our society.
