The Man O’ War Nigeria, Anambra State Command has brought back the iconic 12-foot Assault Wall at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, turning it into a major training point for the 2026 corps members.
Unlike a perimeter fence, this 12FT WALL IS A TACTICAL OBSTACLE, one of the most dreaded yet memorable parts of the NYSC camp experience. Corps members must work together, strategize, and lift each other over the wall as part of the physical and mental training designed to simulate real-life, work, and group challenges.
Why it matters:
Man O’ War, one of NYSC’s key collaborating agencies alongside the Army, Police, NDLEA, DSS, and others, uses the wall to teach teamwork, trust, leadership, and resilience. No one climbs that wall alone it’s all about communication, strength, and collective problem-solving.
Many ex-corpers call it “the moment you realize you can’t do life alone.” It’s where friendships are forged, fears are broken, and leaders are made.
A Man O’ War officer on ground said: "The 12ft wall is not just blocks and height. It represents life’s obstacles. If you can conquer it as a platoon, you can conquer anything after camp.”
Corps members have been sharing clips and photos on Facebook and TikTok, with captions like “We almost gave up at 8ft but platoon 5 no dey carry last!” and “That moment when your platoon commander said ‘no one is left behind’.
NYSC Anambra State Coordinator, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua, praised Man O’ War for maintaining the discipline and structure that make the orientation course impactful. She noted that such activities prepare corps members for the One Youth, Two Skills initiative and life after service.
The vibe on camp: Screams, cheers, mud, and that sweet victory when the last person gets over. It’s chaotic. It’s unhinged. It’s NYSC.
