A reading culture is not built in libraries alone.

It is built in classrooms, campuses, communities, and conversations that challenge young people to think beyond the ordinary.

The Asaba Literacy & Reading Club is pleased to participate in the NASELS Department Week at Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba, where our member, Dr. Egondu Ikeatu, will deliver a lecture on:

đź“– Building a Reading Culture for the New Age Youth

As a Club, we believe that every thriving society is built upon informed citizens, thoughtful leaders, and lifelong learners.

Through engagements such as this, we continue to advance our mission of promoting reading, critical thinking, intellectual discourse, and leadership development among young people.

Building readers.
Developing leaders.
Transforming communities.

📚 A room full of readers.

đź’ˇ A room full of ideas.

đź—Ł A room full of meaningful conversations.

Last Thursday, civil servants across Delta State joined the Office of the Head of Service, Delta State, and the Asaba Literacy & Reading Club for an engaging review of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

From leadership and personal growth to social perception and human relationships, the discussion reminded us that great books continue to shape great minds.

One thing became clear:

Reading is not merely about books.

It is about learning how to think.

📖 Read deeply. 🤔 Think critically. 🌍 Grow continuously.

What happens when civil servants gather to discuss a literary classic?

Last Thursday, the Office of the Head of Service, Delta State, in collaboration with the Asaba Literacy & Reading Club, hosted a thought-provoking review of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen at the Governor's Office Library, Old Secretariat, Asaba.

The session brought together the Head of Service, public servants, members of the Asaba Literacy & Reading Club, and lovers of literature for an engaging exchange of ideas on leadership, human relationships, personal growth, social perception, and the enduring relevance of literature.

One of the highlights of the discussion was the diversity of viewpoints shared and the intellectual curiosity demonstrated throughout the session. It was a reminder that great books continue to inspire meaningful conversations long after they are written.

We commend the Office of the Head of Service, Delta State, for sustaining a culture of reading and lifelong learning within the Civil Service.

A reading Civil Service is a thinking Civil Service.

📚 Read.
đź’ˇ Reflect.
đź—Ł Engage.
