The Senate and House of Representatives Committees on NDDC have both recieved and acknowledged our petition.

The petition bothers on allegation of fraud and discrepancies in the Youth Internship Programme which we want the NASS to investigate with a further call on the NDDC to make public the full list of the supposed 10,000 beneficiaries.

We await Senate and House of Representatives action within the next 14 days.

‎The Anioma Youth Forum Worldwide has petitioned the Senate and the House of Representatives over alleged irregularities in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Youth Internship Programme, calling for a comprehensive investigation into its implementation between August 2024 and July 2025.
‎
‎The group urged the National Assembly Committees on NDDC to launch an independent forensic audit of the programme, covering its design, implementation, financial disbursements and beneficiary lists.
‎
‎In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday and signed by its National President, Nnamdi Ofonye; Deputy National President, Sadik Enemosa; National Secretary, Kabadi Kabadi; and 15 other members, the forum said there were “credible reports and widespread public concern” over alleged fraud and irregularities in the scheme.

‎According to the group, the programme, which was introduced to empower youths in the Niger Delta and build capacity, has been dogged by allegations of systemic abuse since its rollout in August 2024.
‎
‎It alleged that many of the purported 10,000 beneficiaries did not receive the approved monthly stipend of ₦50,000, while there was little or no documentation, including attendance registers, biometric verification or work records, to support claims that beneficiaries participated in the programme.
‎
‎The forum further alleged that only a fraction of beneficiaries received payments, and that those payments covered only a few months despite the programme being designed to run for one year.
‎
‎The group argued that the allegations, if left unaddressed, could expose public funds to further abuse, erode public confidence in government institutions and fuel discontent among youths across the Niger Delta.
‎
‎It said prompt intervention by the National Assembly was necessary to restore public confidence, prevent future abuses and ensure that the programme benefits reached the intended recipients.
‎
‎The forum also urged the National Assembly committees to place on administrative leave any NDDC officials whose names are credibly linked to the alleged irregularities pending the outcome of the investigation.
‎
‎It further called on lawmakers to direct the NDDC to publish within 14 days the full list of beneficiaries, payment records, the names of beneficiaries across the nine Niger Delta states, their ethnic nationalities, and provide a clear timetable for the investigation, with periodic public updates on its progress.
‎
‎In addition, the group urged the National Assembly to conduct public hearings to allow whistleblowers, beneficiaries and relevant officials to testify under oath, while ensuring adequate protection for whistleblowers against victimisation.
‎
‎It also called for the recovery of any misappropriated funds and the prosecution of anyone found culpable by the appropriate anti-corruption agencies if the investigation establishes evidence of fraud.

‎In addition, the forum called for public hearings to enable whistle-blowers, beneficiaries and relevant officials to testify under oath, while ensuring adequate protection for whistle-blowers against victimisation.

‎The Anioma Youth Forum Worldwide has called on the National Assembly to review the implementation of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Youth Internship Programme for 2024/2025 through an independent investigation.
‎
‎In a petition dated 16 July 2026 and addressed to the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the NDDC, the group requested that lawmakers examine issues it said had been raised by participants and other stakeholders regarding the implementation of the programme, which reportedly ran from August 2024 to July 2025.
‎
‎According to the petition, the youth empowerment initiative, established to build the capacity of young people across the Niger Delta, has generated concerns among some individuals who said they participated in the scheme. The forum stated that it had received reports alleging that some participants did not receive the monthly stipends expected under the programme.
‎
‎The petition also called for a review of programme records, including attendance registers, biometric verification and other documentation relating to participants’ engagement. In addition, it requested an examination of payment records and beneficiary lists to determine whether the programme was implemented in line with its stated objectives.
‎
‎The forum urged the Senate and House of Representatives Committees on the NDDC to undertake what it described as “an immediate, independent and forensically sound investigation and audit” covering the programme’s design, implementation, financial disbursements and beneficiary records.

‎As part of its requests, the group asked the National Assembly to direct the NDDC to publish beneficiary lists and payment records within 14 days. It also proposed public hearings where participants, whistleblowers and relevant officials could provide information, while calling for appropriate safeguards for individuals who come forward.

‎The petition further requested that, where any shortcomings are identified through the review, the relevant authorities should take appropriate action in accordance with the law. It also called for a clear timetable for the exercise and periodic updates to keep the public informed of its progress.

‎The forum argued that a legislative review would help strengthen confidence in youth empowerment initiatives, promote accountability in programme implementation and ensure that intended beneficiaries receive the support provided under such schemes.

‎The petition was jointly signed by the National President of the Anioma Youth Forum Worldwide, Comrade Nnamdi Okwufulueze Ofonye, and other members of the forum’s executive committee.

He said that it was a divine power that saved him, after the rogue police cocked his rifle and threatened to shoot him. The shooter police and his team later extorted him of his money before reluctantly letting him go, but that was after over 1hr delay.

ANIOMA YOUTH FORUM WORLDWIDE CONDEMNS IN THE STRONGEST TERMS, THE EXTRAJUDICIAL KILLING OF A DELTA YOUTH IN WARRI, DEMAND JUSTICE FOR OGIDI MENA

Anioma Youth Forum Worldwide (AYF-W), the apex socio-political youth body of Delta North Senatorial District, unequivocally condemns the gruesome and extrajudicial killing of a Delta youth, Mena, in Warri, Delta State, over an allegation bothering on possession and an attempt to transport a concealed firearm.

This tragic incident is not isolated. It reflects a disturbing and growing pattern of reckless extrajudicial actions, intimidation, harassment, and unprofessional conduct that is fast becoming associated with the operations of the Delta State Police Command. Such conduct is unlawful and continues to erode public trust and confidence in law enforcement institutions mandated to protect lives and uphold justice.

The brazen manner in which Ogidi Mena also known as OG million was killed underscores a troubling level of impunity and a blatant disregard for due process. No individual, regardless of the allegations against them, should be denied their constitutional right to a fair hearing and lawful prosecution. Under no circumstance should the grounds.

AYF-W therefore calls on the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, to urgently intervene in this matter in the interest of justice, public safety, and the rule of law. The painful lessons of EndSARS protests must not be forgotten. The State Government must act decisively to halt this dangerous trend before it escalates further.

We also call on the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and relevant senior officers, including the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, to ensure a thorough, transparent, and independent investigation into the killing of Mena. All officers found culpable must be made to face the full weight of the law without delay or compromise.

Furthermore, AYF-W strongly urges the Nigeria Police Force to adopt and institutionalize global best practices in recruitment, training, and operational conduct. There must be a deliberate shift toward professionalism, accountability, intelligence-led policing, and strict respect for human rights. Recruitment processes must prioritize competence, psychological fitness, and ethical standards, while continuous training must reinforce discipline and modern crime-fighting techniques.

The urgent need to identify and remove bad elements within the force cannot be overstated. Policing must reflect service, not oppression. The sanctity of human life must remain paramount in all security operations.

We demand justice for Ogidi Mena. His life must not become another forgotten statistic. Justice must be served swiftly and transparently to restore public confidence and deter future occurrences.

While Anioma youths remain committed to collaborating with security agencies to ensure peace and stability across Anioma land and Delta State at large, such partnership must be anchored on mutual respect, accountability, and strict adherence to the rule of law.
