WORLD PEACE DAY 2026: NYCN ONDO STATE CHAPTER JOINS THE WORLD IN PROMOTING PEACE

Today, Monday, 21st September 2026, the world comes together to commemorate World Peace Day, a day dedicated to promoting peace, unity, tolerance, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence among people and communities.

In commemoration of this important occasion, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ondo State Chapter, under the leadership of Engr. Omomowo Babatunde, is collaborating with the Peace Corps of Nigeria, Ondo State Branch, to participate in activities marking World Peace Day.

The collaboration reflects the shared commitment of both organisations to encouraging young people to become active ambassadors of peace, unity, responsible citizenship, and positive community development.

As Nigeria continues to harness the energy, creativity, and potential of its young population, there is a need for young people to champion peaceful dialogue, respect for diversity, community engagement, and non-violent approaches to resolving differences.

On this World Peace Day, we call on young people across Ondo State and Nigeria to choose peace, promote unity, reject violence, and become voices for positive change.

Peace begins with each of us. Together, let us build a peaceful, united, and prosperous society.

On behalf of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ondo State Chapter, we sincerely and wholeheartedly express our profound appreciation to Your Excellency for the honour and confidence reposed in our Chairman, Engr. Omomowo Babatunde Sunday, through his appointment as Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Council Affairs.

We are deeply grateful for this recognition, which we regard not only as an honour to our Chairman but also as a significant acknowledgement of the important role of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ondo State Chapter, in promoting youth participation, development, leadership, and inclusive governance across the State.

PUBLIC NOTICE

CHANGE OF DATE FOR ONDO YOUTH SUMMIT 1.0

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ondo State Chapter, wishes to formally inform the general public, youth stakeholders, partner organizations, government agencies, and all affiliated member organizations that the Ondo Youth Summit 1.0, earlier scheduled to hold on Thursday, 23rd July 2026, has been postponed until further notice.

This decision has become necessary due to overwhelming requests from stakeholders and to ensure a more inclusive, impactful, and well-coordinated summit for all participants.

The new date for the summit will be officially announced within the next few days.

The venue and time remain unchanged:

Venue: The Dome Event Centre, Igbatoro Road, Akure, Ondo State
Time: 10:00 a.m.

The theme of the summit also remains unchanged:

“From Potential to Purpose: Bridging the Youth Leadership Gap.”

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this postponement may cause and deeply appreciate your understanding, patience, and continued support. We encourage all youth leaders, students, professionals, entrepreneurs, community development advocates, and stakeholders across Ondo State to stay tuned for the official announcement of the new date.

Together, let us build a generation of visionary, responsible, and purpose-driven young leaders committed to the sustainable development of Ondo State and Nigeria at large.
