OBEDIENT TONIC: I
The recent visit of Mr. Peter Obi to the Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Nyesom Wike has again arisen the suspicion of a possible political alliance between Mr. Peter Obi’s political movement and the cantankerous and radical Nyesom Wike, and this is already sending shiver and fever down the spines of the PDP national leadership who Wike believed betrayed him at the party’s presidential primaries, and also failed to influence the vice presidential slot to him as to assuage his anger and appreciate all his efforts and contributions to party in the last couple of years.
Though nothing concrete has been made public regarding this august visit of Mr. Peter Obi to the Bricks House of Port Harcourt, but given the dicey nature of politics, especially during electioneering season, every political actor is always on alert of the political activities that happens within and around him.
Make no mistakes, the growing fame and followership of Mr. Peter Obi’s presidential aspiration has taken major seasoned political actors in the country by surprise, and many of them are already at a loose end of the best approach to be adopted in clipping the strong wings of this new eagle that has emerged and threatening their political relevance and business interest in the country’s political system.
As was expected, the two major political parties in the country, APC and PDP and their followers have abandoned their political programmes and have been focusing more on every move made by Mr. Peter Obi.
Even though the ‘structureless’ theory sold to dapple the spirit of the millions of supporters of Mr. Peter Obi, this move have turned into the advantage of the supporter of this new political movement, as millions of Nigerians have resolved to vote for this ‘structureless’ presidential candidate than voting for the familiar structured parties that have failed the country in the past 23years.
Obedient Tonic will be analyzing every political move of Mr. Peter Obi and the reactionary approach of the structured political parties and their supporters as we progress politically.
