THE WAVE OF PROGRESSIVE IN WARD TWO.

It was a moment of joy and reflection. The most powerful ward in Oyigbo LGA has taken a stand on their political future and progress.

It was a moment of joy seeing a progressive meeting hosted by a noble leader and loyalist of Hon Dr Gift Okere the Executive charman of Oyigbo LGA the person of sir uche Onyeukwu ( the market master).

Ward two is for Hon Dr Gift Okere and His Excellency Sir Sim Joseph Fubara, sir Uche Onyeukwu said there is a need for continuous meeting in ward two and assured us that the council chairman is ready for 2027.

Hon Lambert said in his wards, said he's happy with what the state government is doing in the state and is hundred percent ready to work work with Governor and the chairman of Oyigbo LGA.

Comr. Brown Gideon was happy with the massive turn out of all the well respected stakeholder in ward two knowing how difficult it is to succeed in ward, in this wards we are tired of the previous leaders in our ward since 1999 we need a progressive change and progress he urged the members of simplify movement to be up and doing in ward two informing the ward that council Boss is ready for the battle ahead.

Hon Okere Ibe said that what the state government and local government is doing in our state is visible .

It was a moment of joy seeing Hon sir chiawolom Jacob, who said that ward two must move forward for the betterment of everybody in the ward, state and federal, in rd speech he said what the Governor is doing to assist the civil servants in the state is second to noon.

Barr. Okechi said there's need for us to have a constant meeting to enable us know who is who in our political family, he advised that we need a 30 members as a critical stakeholders in ward two for us to know our stand.

Barr, Collins Nna was full of energy in the meeting his wards was full of praise to the good works of Mr chairman Hon Dr Gift Okere.

OYIGBO HEALTH WORKERS TAKE ACTION TO PROMOTE PUBLIC SANITATION

In a bid to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment, health workers in Oyigbo Local Government Area have taken proactive steps to improve sanitation and public health. During a recent sanitation exercise, they were seen educating traders and members of the public on proper waste disposal practices, hygiene measures and the importance of maintaining a clean environment. They also ensured that illegal structures and obstructions were removed.

The health workers also supervised waste management activities, ensuring that refuse was disposed of within the designated hours (6 PM – 10 PM) as indicated on official waste bins. Their presence in markets and other public areas highlights Dr. Gift Okere’s commitment to enforcing hygiene regulations and preventing the spread of diseases.

During the exercise, they addressed environmental hazards posed by indiscriminate waste dumping and encouraged residents to comply with sanitation guidelines. Dr. Gift Okere, the Executive Chairman of Oyigbo LGA, remains dedicated to improving public health and maintaining a cleaner community for all.

Residents are encouraged to support these initiatives by adhering to proper sanitation practices and cooperating with health officials.

OYIGBO LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL CHAIRMAN HON. DR. GIFT OKERE RECEIVES MEMBERS OF THE RIVERS STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE ON LOCAL GOVERNMENT.

~ Appealed to the rivers state government to intervene in a long-standing boundary dispute with the neighboring Ogoni and Etche communities.

~ Reels out achievements in one hundred day’s in office.

The Executive Chairman of Oyigbo local government is asking the River state government to intervene in the boundary disputes between Oyigbo and the neighboring Ogoni’s communities.

In his opening remarks, the chairman of the committee and deputy speaker, Rivers state house of assembly, Rt. Hon. Adolphus Orubienmigha explained that they are not on a witch hunt but to ascertain how council chairmen in the state are utilizing public funds. "We are not on this exercise to victimize any local government chairmen. Rather, we want to ensure that the twenty three LG chairmen reciprocate what His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara is doing at the state level because our people yearn for development especially at the grassroots."

On his part, the deputy chairman of the committee, Hon. Sokari Goodboy sought clarification on the relationship between the Executive Chairman and leaders/ stakeholders across all political parties in the local government and the state at large.

Dr. Gift Okere responding to the posers posed to him by the members of the River State House of Assembly reels off the achievements of his administration and what he intends to do going forward, Oyigbo council boss added that his administration dose not intend to have an ongoing projects that will outlive the lifespan of his administration.

Part of the achievements the council boss reeled off while responding to posers are:

• Three months tax waiver/ Holiday across the local government.

In what could be described as an untiring display of overwhelming love, grassroots support and solidarity, the Executive chairman of Oyigbo Local Government council Hon. Dr. Gift Okere receives in courtesy the foundational chairmen of Rivers Leadership Advancement Foundation (RIVLEAF)

The leader of the delegation Warisenibo Engr Henry Uranta expresses gratitude to the council chairman for receiving RIVLEAF in his office. He acknowledged his exceptional leadership qualities and the people’s oriented project his administration has embarked upon even in less than four months which shows his readiness and commitment to the vision of the Executive Governor of River state His Excellency Sir. Siminalayi Fubara’s first point agenda (Rivers First).

Dr. Okere in his response, thanked the foundational chairmen of River’s Leadership Advancement Foundation (RIVLEAF) first for identifying with our Leader Sir. Siminalayi Joseph Fubara the Executive Governor of River state.

Furthermore, the council boss highlights some of his administration achievements noting that his team has recorded some landmark projects within the period under review in education, infrastructure, security and economic empowerment.

*WOMEN GATHER IN PRAYERS AS OYIGBO FIRST LADY ENGR. MRS. IHUOMA VIVIAN OKERE HOST WOMEN PRAYER MEETING.*

Engr. Mrs. Ihuoma Vivian Okere, First Lady of Oyigbo Local Government council on Tuesday 11th, February 2025 hosted women from across the ten wards of the LGA to the February edition of the Women Prayer Service.

The service tagged: ‘The Glory of God’, was held at the Oyigbo local government council Multi-purpose hall.

The women who gathered today at the Oyigbo local government council multi-purpose hall made their supplications to God and sought for his divine intervention, protection and all round success for the River State Governor, Sir. Siminalayi Joseph Fubara, Council Chairman Hon. Dr. Gift Okere, First Lady Engr. Vivian Okere, vice chairman of council Hon. Mrs. Silver Amaechi and others.

Engr. Mrs. Ihuoma Vivian Okere thanked the women for coming out in their numbers to pray for the Governor whom she said has rendered excellent leadership to the people of River State with all his might.

Speaking further, Oyigbo First Lady described Governor Siminalayi Fubara as a strong leader servant who has shown capacity on all fronts. She prayed God to continue to hold the first family, Deputy Governor and her family for the seen and unseen battles as they continue to sail the ship of leadership.

Engr. Mrs. Okere emphatically thank Oyigbo women for their support to the Council Chairman, noting that the efficacy of the prayers of the women can not be over emphasized, and charged the women to continue to stand in the gap for the Government at all times to counter and conquer all evil spirits that may distract the administration of Hon. Dr. Gift Okere.

Intercessory prayers were offered for the Governor and the council chairman respectively.

OYIGBO MONTHLY SANITATION EXERCISE

~ A step towards cleanliness.

The monthly sanitation exercise in Oyigbo Local Government Area was a resounding success led by the dynamic leadership of Chairman of the Environmental Sanitation Committee and the Chairman of the Market Committee. By targeting key areas such as markets, streets, and public spaces, the exercise has not only improved sanitation but also reinforced the government’s stance on community involvement and accountability.

The exercise highlights the proactive measures taken under the leadership of Hon. Dr. Gift Okere, whose administration prioritizes cleanliness as a cornerstone of development. Residents and traders actively participated in maintaining a hygienic environment. This monthly exercise is a testament to the administration’s vision of building a cleaner, healthier, and more progressive Oyigbo, setting a standard for effective governance and citizen engagement.

OYIGBO LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY PASSES VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON THE EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF COUNCIL, HON. Dr. GIFT OKERE.

•Evaluates achievements of his administration 100 day’s in Office~

Oyigbo 8th Assembly today 21st January, 2025 passed a vote of confidence on the chairman of the local government area, Hon. Dr. Gift Okere in acknowledgment and appreciation of the council chairman’s laudable achievements within the 100 days of his administration.

The councilors said they were impressed with the unprecedented infrastructure revolution witnessed across the local government area within the 100 days of the administration of Dr. Gift Okere.

The leader of Oyigbo 8th legislative assembly Hon. Chibuike Keff Elechi said the progress of work across the 3 clans of Oyigbo local government was an attestation of the council chairman’s sincere commitment towards the development of the local government area, stressing that the council chairman had already changed the narrative about the local government area within 100 days of his administration.

Hon. Chibuike Keff Elechi who highlighted the achievements of Hon. Dr. Gift Okere administration within his 100 days in office, thanked the council chairman for being friendly, kind and generous to members of the legislature, he pledged the continued collaboration and support of the 8th legislative assembly to the administration, while calling on other stakeholders to join hands with the council chairman to transform the LGA.
