It was a great privilege to be part of stakeholders attended an Interstate Consultative Dialogue on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention and Response organized by the Balm in Gilead Foundation for Sustainable Development (BIGIF).

The aim of the programme was to strengthen coordinated GBV prevention and response mechanisms. The dialogue brought together key stakeholders from Ondo State and Ekiti State to assess existing GBV response systems, share state-level experiences, and develop actionable strategies for improved coordination, prevention, and service delivery.

The engagement had in attendance key high-level stakeholders, including the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, the Executive Secretary of the Ondo State Agency Against Gender-Based Violence, and the State Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission, among other relevant actors within the GBV response ecosystem.

The New Initiative for Social Development (NISD) was represented at the engagement by Barr Ruth L. Oluwaleke, Legal Officer, and Mr Olusegun Ojo, Program Manager of the Male Feminist Network Project, Southwest. During the event, Mr Olusegun delivered a presentation highlighting the experiences and progress of the Male Feminist Network Project, including implementation lessons and strategies. Presentations from other key stakeholders across both states further enriched the dialogue by highlighting progress, implementation challenges, and operational gaps, thereby contributing to broader discussions on strengthening institutional coordination and improving GBV response systems.

Overall, the dialogue provided a strategic platform for cross-state learning, evidence sharing, and the development of practical, coordinated approaches to strengthening GBV prevention and response systems across the region.
