*OMO EKITI NI MI FOUNDATION WORLDWIDE CALLS ON FG, EKITI STATE GOVT TO EVACUATE NIGERIANS, EKITI INDIGENES FROM SOUTH AFRICA AMID RENEWED XENOPHOBIC ATTACKS*
*Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria* – OMO EKITI NI MI FOUNDATION WORLDWIDE has expressed deep concern over the renewed wave of xenophobic attacks targeting Nigerians and other African nationals in South Africa, with disturbing reports of Ekiti indigenes caught in the violence.
The Foundation, through its Convener, *Ògbéni Folorunso Owoseni Michael*, strongly condemns these barbaric and unprovoked attacks on innocent Nigerians whose only offense is seeking legitimate livelihood abroad.
“We cannot fold our arms while our brothers and sisters, especially Ekiti sons and daughters in South Africa, live in fear, lose their businesses, and face threat to life daily. This is unacceptable,” Owoseni stated.
*The Foundation therefore calls on:*
1. *The Federal Government of Nigeria*, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to immediately activate diplomatic channels and, if necessary, commence emergency evacuation of Nigerians from flashpoints in South Africa to bring them home safely.
2. *The Ekiti State Government*, under Governor Biodun Oyebanji, to urgently liaise with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to compile names of stranded Ekiti indigenes in South Africa and ensure their protection and safe return.
3. *The Nigerian Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM)* and *Nigeria High Commission in Pretoria* to provide real-time support, shelter, and legal aid to affected citizens.
OMO EKITI NI MI FOUNDATION WORLDWIDE reminds the South African Government of the historic ties between both nations and the sacrifices Nigeria made during the anti-apartheid struggle. “The time has come for South Africa to protect all Africans living within her borders,” the statement added.
The Foundation stands ready to partner with government agencies to support resettlement and reintegration of any Ekiti returnee from South Africa.
We urge all Ekiti people in South Africa to remain law-abiding, avoid volatile areas, and register their details with the Nigerian High Commission immediately.
_Agbajo owo la fin so’ya_ – We must bring our people home.
