True and lasting change begins with people. If we are committed to building communities and nations where citizens can truly thrive, then our priority must be investing in people’s capacity for transformation and leadership.

No country can achieve sustainable growth without developing its people. Empowered citizens are the foundation of accountability, innovation, and progress.

The Fiscal Transparency Champions Training is part of our commitment to strengthening grassroots participation, empowering citizens to collaborate effectively, demand accountability, and promote transparent and inclusive governance. Together, we are building the Nigeria we want.

As part of activities marking this year’s Open Government Partnership Week, Inspiration Care and Development Center Africa successfully hosted a one-day Capacity Building Workshop for LG Fiscal Transparency Champions working across the 16 Local Government Areas of Ekiti State.

The workshop focused on strengthening the capacity of youth champions to promote accountability, citizen participation, fiscal transparency, and inclusive governance at the grassroots level.

We remain committed to deepening our efforts and empowering more young people with the confidence, knowledge, and tools needed to advance transparent and inclusive governance across Nigeria.

We sincerely appreciate our partner, Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF), for supporting this impactful initiative. Naijayouthfund

As political activities continue to gain momentum across Nigeria, various political parties are currently conducting screening and clearance exercises for candidates seeking elective positions at both the state and federal levels. These processes are critical in shaping the nation’s democratic future, but an important question remains: How inclusive are these opportunities for women?

Despite years of advocacy for gender equality and increased women representation in governance, many women still face significant barriers in politics ranging from limited access to party structures and political funding, to intimidation, discrimination, and deliberate exclusion from decision-making spaces. While some political parties publicly promote women inclusion, concerns persist over whether women are truly being supported by their male counterparts or if their opportunities are still being undermined and taken away.

This week on BETA Government on Radio, we will take a critical look at the realities of women’s political participation in Nigeria. We will explore the challenges women face within political systems, the level of support available to female aspirants, the role of political parties in advancing gender inclusion, and why increasing women representation is essential for national development and democratic growth.

Join us as we discuss:

“Women Voices Matter: Supporting Women Political Participation in Nigeria.”

Guest: Dunni Riches, Gender Advocate and Founder Ekiti Women Arise
