PRESS STATEMENT
Nigeria Youth Congress (NYC), Ekiti State Chapter

The Nigeria Youth Congress, Ekiti State Chapter, cautions the Nigerian Army to uphold discipline, professionalism, and commitment to duty, in line with the primary reasons the State Government deployed them to Ekiti State.

The organisation strongly condemns the unfortunate incident that occurred yesterday at Oja Fayose Market, Ado-Ekiti, where soldiers disrupted activities over a purely civil matter. Ekiti State is widely known for peace and stability, consistently ranking among the most peaceful states in Nigeria. The presence of soldiers in Ekiti is strictly for the protection and safety of citizens—not to create tension, chaos, or engage in confrontations with the very people they are meant to safeguard.

The Youth Congress calls for unity, cohesion, and mutual respect between the Nigerian Army and the residents of Ekiti State. The organisation firmly cautions the military against interfering in civil engagements or matters outside their mandate.

We appeal to the State Government to take appropriate action to address this development and to ensure that such misconduct is not repeated. The soldiers involved should be warned to refrain from any action capable of disturbing the peace of the State.

The Nigeria Youth Congress emphasizes that a repeat of such an incident will be met with strong public outcry, including coordinated protests, to safeguard the peace and rights of Ekiti citizens.

Signed:
Aare Adedara temitope Moses chairman nigerian youth Congress ekiti state chapter.

*OLAKUNLE ADELEKE: A CHAMELEON IN HUMAN FORM*

The attention of the Nigerian Youth Congress, Ekiti State Chapter, has been drawn to a false and misleading memo circulated by Olakunle Adeleke, aimed at tarnishing the image of the NYC Ekiti State Chapter and its Chairman, Aare Temitope Moses Adedara.

To set the record straight, Olakunle Adeleke has been a member of both the Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC) and the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), serving as the Ikere Branch Coordinator for both organizations. His dual allegiance should have led to his dismissal from the NYC. However, in a show of fatherly compassion, Aare Temitope Moses Adedara pleaded with the State Executive Council to forgive Adeleke’s indiscretion, recognizing it as a display of immaturity and a lack of self awareness, clear signs that he still requires leadership training.

In 2024, it was Aare Temitope Moses Adedara who worked tirelessly to resolve internal disputes between Olakunle Adeleke and his executive members in the Ikere Branch of the NYC, after allegations surfaced regarding Adeleke’s lack of transparency, his love for embezzlement funds, and high handedness.

For public awareness, it is important to note that Olakunle Adelekeis currently serving two dissimilar masters simultaneously. However, his loyalty clearly lies with the one who installed him as the Coordinator of both the NYC and NYCN in Ikere. His recent statement, following the removal of Aare Temitope Moses Adedara from the NYC Ekiti State Chapter's official WhatsApp platform, lucidly reveals that he was privy to the National President's actions. It appears he views this as an opportunity to advance his profligate political ambition of becoming the next Chairman of the NYC Ekiti State Chapter, an ambition he knows that is dead on arrival, while Aare Topmost is still occupying the same position.

Olakunle Adeleke has proven to be a chameleon in human form. He has never shown sincerity in his dealings with the NYC Ekiti State Chapter. His recent attempt to passed a vote of no confidence on the Chairman was firmly opposed by the Local Government Coordinators of the Chapter, because of his dubious and epileptic character.

We therefore call on Olakunle Adeleke to reflect on his actions and work on improving his odoriferous character, rather than orchestrating the beating of drums of discord and retrogressiveness.
