Youth Initiative For Sustainable Human Development In Africa We have since impacted cumulatively a total of 20,000 people across Nigeria through our programs and activities.

At YiSHDA, we work with all relevant stakeholders and policy makers to create safe spaces for young people, enabling them to play frontline, and active leadership roles. Youth Initiative for Sustainable Human Development in Africa (YiSHDA) is a not-for-profit and non-governmental organization with an aim to inspire and educate young people by building their capacity, leadership and responsibility

skills. It is also our mission to advocate for policies and programs that have the potential to impact positively the lives of young people especially in the areas of Education, ICT4Development, Business Development and Environmental Sustainability. Founded in the year 2010 and registered with the Federal Government of Nigeria under the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) with registration certificate number CAC/IT/No 60340 in 2013. Our organization has carved a niche for itself in the design and implementation of programs targeted at women and girls with special focus in Education, Development, Empowerment and Mentorship.

We are proud of our continues partnership with
W.TEC - Women's Technology Empowerment Centre in commemorating the 2026 International Day of Women and Girls in Science, proudly supported by IHS Towers.

This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to breaking barriers, expanding opportunities, and inspiring the next generation of women and girls to thrive in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Through this partnership, we are amplifying the voices of young girls, promoting digital inclusion, and creating safe spaces for innovation, mentorship, and leadership development. We firmly believe that empowering women and girls in science is not just about equality — it is about unlocking Africa’s full potential.

At YiSHDA, we recognize the power of partnership. When organizations unite around a common vision, impact becomes stronger, deeper, and more sustainable.

Together, we are shaping a future where every girl sees herself as a scientist, innovator, and change-maker.

PROGRAM UPDATE — CALL FOR PARTNERSHIP

We are proud to announce the official launch of the Read to Rise — Community Literacy & Learning Hub Initiative.

This transformative initiative is designed to bridge learning gaps by establishing inclusive, safe, and resource-rich community hubs that promote a strong reading culture, foundational literacy, digital learning, creativity, and lifelong education.

These hubs will serve as child-friendly and youth-focused spaces where learners can access books, mentorship, homework support, and innovation-driven activities that strengthen comprehension, communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Through Read to Rise, we are nurturing confident readers, empowered learners, and future leaders — one community at a time.

We are now calling on partners, donors, corporate organizations, development agencies, and well-meaning individuals to collaborate with us in expanding the reach and impact of this initiative.

Your support through funding, books, technology and expertise can help transform lives and unlock the potential of thousands of children and young people.

YiSHDA at the WASH Forum | 39th AU Summit – Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

The Youth Initiative for Sustainable Human Development in Africa (YiSHDA) is currently participating at the WASH Forum held on the sidelines of the 39th African Union (AU) Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

As African leaders, policymakers, development partners, and youth advocates converge to shape the continent’s development agenda, YiSHDA is honored to contribute to critical conversations around Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) — a cornerstone for public health, dignity, and sustainable development.

Over the years, YiSHDA has championed hygiene and sanitation across local communities in Nigeria, implementing grassroots initiatives that engage young people as WASH ambassadors and supporting schools and rural communities with hygiene education

Our work at the community level has consistently demonstrated that sustainable human development begins with access to safe water and improved hygiene. We believe that empowering communities with knowledge and resources is key to preventing disease, improving school attendance, enhancing gender dignity, and strengthening local resilience.

As discussions unfold at the AU Summit, YiSHDA remains committed to amplifying youth voices and advancing sustainable, inclusive, and community-centered WASH solutions across Africa.

Grant & Partnership Request: Media and Information Literacy for Public Libraries (MILLs) Program

In 2022, with the generous support of the U.S. Mission Nigeria, we designed and successfully implemented the Media and Information Literacy for Public Libraries (MILLs) Program. This initiative was born out of a clear need to strengthen public libraries as trusted, credible sources of information in an era of widespread misinformation.

Through MILLs, YiSHDA has empowered librarians with the skills and tools needed to identify, counter, and respond effectively to misinformation while repositioning public libraries as safe spaces for learning, truth, and civic engagement.

As we seek to scale and expand the MILLs Program, YiSHDA is calling on donors, development partners, media institutions, and philanthropic organizations to support this impactful initiative through grants and strategic partnerships.

Together, we can strengthen information integrity, promote informed communities, and reinforce the critical role of public libraries in democratic societies. For more information and proposal request: [email protected]

From engaging panel discussions to collaborative breakout sessions, the energy in the room reflected a unified commitment to innovation, accountability, and meaningful youth inclusion in policy processes.

At YiSHDA, through the active participation of our Director of Programs, Agbara Moses we are building bridges, shaping narratives, and driving actions that matter. The future is not just something to anticipate — it is something we are intentionally designing together
