Youth Initiative For Sustainable Human Development In Africa We have since impacted cumulatively a total of 20,000 people across Nigeria through our programs and activities.

At YiSHDA, we work with all relevant stakeholders and policy makers to create safe spaces for young people, enabling them to play frontline, and active leadership roles. Youth Initiative for Sustainable Human Development in Africa (YiSHDA) is a not-for-profit and non-governmental organization with an aim to inspire and educate young people by building their capacity, leadership and responsibility

skills. It is also our mission to advocate for policies and programs that have the potential to impact positively the lives of young people especially in the areas of Education, ICT4Development, Business Development and Environmental Sustainability. Founded in the year 2010 and registered with the Federal Government of Nigeria under the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) with registration certificate number CAC/IT/No 60340 in 2013. Our organization has carved a niche for itself in the design and implementation of programs targeted at women and girls with special focus in Education, Development, Empowerment and Mentorship.

Every Girl Deserves Dignity. Every Voice Matters. Every Future Counts.

At Youth Initiative for Sustainable Human Development in Africa (YiSHDA), we remain unwavering in our commitment to advancing the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MHH) of every adolescent girl across local communities in Nigeria.

We believe that no girl should miss school, lose confidence, or be denied opportunities because of menstruation, limited access to accurate information, or inadequate reproductive health services.

Through our community outreaches, school-based education programs, menstrual hygiene awareness campaigns, sanitary pad distributions, youth-friendly health education, and strategic partnerships, we are helping to break stigma, promote healthy choices, and empower girls to thrive with confidence and dignity.

Our vision is a Nigeria where every adolescent girl regardless of where she lives has access to comprehensive sexuality education, menstrual health resources, quality reproductive health information, and supportive communities that respect her rights and potential.

Together with our partners, volunteers, educators, health professionals, and community leaders, we will continue to champion a future where every girl is informed, empowered, healthy, and able to reach her full potential.

Strengthening youth development requires evidence, collaboration, and action.

Our Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer, Princely-Joseph Ikhimealo, proudly represented our organization at the Mind The Gap Engagement and YNEET Report Launch, joining other distinguished stakeholders committed to advancing youth inclusion and opportunity.

The engagement highlighted key findings from the YNEET Report and fostered dialogue on addressing the barriers that prevent many young people from accessing education, employment, and training opportunities. Insights from the event will continue to inform our efforts to design impactful, data-driven interventions that create lasting change.

Youth Initiative for Sustainable Human Development in Africa (YiSHDA) Joins Global Movement as Official Menstrual Hygiene Day Partner

Abuja, Nigeria | June 2026

The Youth Initiative for Sustainable Human Development in Africa (YiSHDA) is proud to announce its official recognition as a Menstrual Hygiene Day - Global (MH Day) Partner, joining a global network of over 1,000 partner organizations and institutions committed to advancing menstrual health and hygiene worldwide.

This milestone reflects YiSHDA's growing commitment to promoting menstrual health, dignity, education, and gender equality for girls and young women across Nigeria and Africa. As an official MH Day Partner, YiSHDA joins governments, civil society organizations, development partners, youth-led groups, private sector actors, and advocates worldwide working collectively to end menstrual stigma and ensure that menstruation does not limit opportunities for girls and women.

Over the years, YiSHDA has implemented impactful Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) initiatives across schools and local communities, reaching hundreds of adolescent girls with menstrual health education, reusable and disposable menstrual products, awareness campaigns, community dialogues, and advocacy efforts aimed at creating supportive environments for menstrual health.

The partnership comes at a time when YiSHDA continues to expand its menstrual health programming through school-based interventions, community outreach activities, advocacy campaigns, and strategic partnerships aimed at addressing period poverty and menstrual stigma.

YiSHDA recently commemorated Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 through a series of activities in local communities and schools, engaging students, teachers, parents, and community stakeholders in conversations and actions that promote menstrual health awareness and access.

As part of the global MH Day movement, YiSHDA reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that no girl misses education, opportunities, or participation in society because of menstruation.

The media plays a vital role in amplifying youth voices, shaping public discourse, and promoting meaningful participation in governance and policy processes.

Our President, Joseph Emmanuel Yaba, was in a live radio session on Grace 95.5 FM Lokoja, Kogi State where he discussed the importance of media in strengthening youth engagement and influencing policies that promote sustainable development.

The session highlighted the need for increased access to credible information, stronger youth representation in policy discussions, and strategic partnerships between media institutions, government agencies, and civil society organizations to create inclusive platforms for young people.

At the Youth Initiative for Sustainable Human Development in Africa (YiSHDA), we recognize that meaningful and lasting development can only be achieved through collaboration, dialogue, and active stakeholder engagement.

Phase Two Successfully Implemented!
YiSHDA Takes Menstrual Hygiene Awareness to Government Secondary School, Karu East-Ado Nasarawa State

As part of activities marking the 2026 Menstrual Hygiene Day, the Youth Initiative for Sustainable Human Development in Africa (YiSHDA) successfully implemented Phase Two of its Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Program at Government Secondary School, Karu East, Ado-Nasarawa State.

The outreach provided students with valuable knowledge on menstrual health, personal hygiene, and the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding menstruation. Through interactive sessions, participants were empowered with accurate information to help them manage their menstrual health safely, confidently, and with dignity.

The program also emphasized the need for supportive school and community environments where every girl can thrive without discrimination or barriers associated with menstruation.

At YiSHDA, we remain committed to promoting menstrual health education, advancing gender equality, and ensuring that no girl is left behind because of her period.
