One of our absolute favorite moments from the Jos Mental Health Summit 2026, hosted by Advancing Initiatives for Better Health (AIBETH) and Shades of Us, was the "blind trust" exercise that encouraged participants to remove bias, let go of control, and rely on one another.

As participants guided and were guided by others, they reflected on trust, vulnerability, and the support we all need to heal and thrive.

Because resilience is rarely built alone.

Shades of Us led a hands-on session on reusable menstrual pads during the Menstrual Hygiene Day commemoration organized alongside Tabitha Empowerment Centre (TEC), Shield Them, SuS Pads, Women Community in Africa, and the TEC Girls Vanguards.

Led by Vivian Peter, the session showed girls at LEA Kpeyegyi, Abuja, how reusable pads are made and used, introducing them to a safe, sustainable, and affordable menstrual hygiene option. By sharing practical skills, we are helping girls expand their choices and take another step toward ending period poverty.
