Professional Engagement and Commitment to Environmental Health Practice in FCT is non negotiable as the Leadership of EHOAN FCT Chapter under the leadership of San Daniel Musa moved for courtesy visit to Gwagwalada Councils to strengthen collaboration.
The Director of Environmental Health Services, San. Mrs Eunice Asubioju emphasized the importance of professionalism and the need for proper licensing and professional engagement within the Environmental Health profession.
She highlighted concerns regarding leadership within the profession that has at times been sidelined, noting that collaboration among key stakeholders is essential.
Reference was made to professionals such as former Registrar San Dr. Ebisike Augustine and institutions like the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB), Environmental Health Council Of Nigeria (EHCON) and the Area Councils, whose involvement has helped revive the joy and pride of the Environmental Health profession.
The Director also stressed the importance of job creation within the profession, noting that Environmental Health Practitioners must take proactive steps to expand employment opportunities.
She observed that while many professions are progressing, Environmental Health is still lagging behind in terms of employment opportunities, which calls for urgent action. She also encouraged partnership with the leadership to allowed their members within her territory to freely come to her office.
Furthermore, she raised concerns about the activities of non-professionals operating within the Environmental Health sector, emphasizing the need for stronger regulation, monitoring, and enforcement to protect the integrity of the profession.
She encouraged the leadership of the association not to allow their tenure to be wasted, but rather to work collectively to strengthen the profession and create opportunities for members.
In response, the President, San. Daniel Musa (PhD in view) reiterated his strong commitment to promoting better professional practices within the FCT.
He acknowledged the dedication, passion, and commitment of the respected Director and her efforts toward advancing the Environmental Health profession in Nigeria.
The President assured members that his administration, in collaboration with the Directors and other stakeholders, will work toward creating more job opportunities for Environmental Health Officers.

Hospitals and Healthcare facilities
Factories and industrial facilities.
Manufacturing and other commercial establishments.
He reaffirmed that through partnership, advocacy, and strategic engagement, the leadership will continue to pursue opportunities that will improve the welfare and professional relevance of Environmental Health Practitioners.
