The ‘Madam Thessy Nkadi Isemede (HELP) Foundation’ a.k.a Thessy Isemede Foundation is a non-governmental organization (registered with CAC Nigeria- CAC/IT/NO 73325) that is focused on the education, economic empowerment and physical enhancement of the less privileged in our society. The organization was birthed in 2013 in honour of late Madam Theresa Nkadi Isemede (1945-2008). Madam Thessy dreamt
of a world that reflected peace, love and joy. Her greatest desire was to put ‘A SMILE’ on people’s face: one person at a time and in whatever means she could. This passion was communicated by action and words to her children so much so that 5 years after her home calling and in keeping with the promise made to her by her children, the Madam Thessy Nkadi Isemede Foundation was birthed as a testimony to her life and vision. This foundation aims to “put a smile on the faces of the less privileged“(specifically Orphans and Vulnerable Children [OVCs], Internally Displaced People [IDPs], disadvantaged youth, Juvenile delinquents and Indigent School-drop-outs) in the society by uniquely Inspiring and Empowering them. Our thematic areas-
1. Education-Aid: Through this project arm we HELP our ‘Less Privileged Target People’ to access the ‘Scholarships and Resources’ they require to secure the right FUTURE (that will enable them become ‘privileged enough’ to in turn help other ‘less privileged people’ in the society). The flagship initiative we have under this thematic area is The Thessy Orphans Scholarship Trust, focused on providing Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) with scholarship grants on a yearly basis for their secondary and tertiary education.
2. Empowerment-Aid: Through this project arm we HELP our ‘Less Privileged Target People’ to gain access to the relevant ‘Entrepreneurship Training and Tools [small business development, grants and working machineries)’ and the professional mentoring they require to run Sustainable Enterprises and become Self Reliant. The flagship initiative we have under this thematic area is The Y.I.E.L.D (Youth Initiative for Entrepreneurship & Leadership Development) Project. The Y.I.E.L.D Project comprises of a business academy, a resource library and a micro-finance cooperative society.
3. Equipment-Aid: Through this project arm we HELP to supply what is needed by engaging in selfless charitable projects/programs (aimed at enhancing the lives of the less privileged). The flagship initiatives we have under this thematic area are:
(I) HANDS4HELP: an initiative that is specifically focused on lending a ‘hand of help’ (via the supply of either medical supplies, food, clothing or finances). (II) INSPIRED TO EMPOWER: An advocacy platform and a radio programme aimed at encouraging persons who in their own small way are helping to enhance the lives of the less privileged by show casing their activities and impacts. We also hope to encourage others to reach out because we know that there is how far one person can go but if a critical mass can be built in reaching out, then our world would be a far more enriching place.
