FRACAS OF HYPOCRISY AND DISPLAY OF HYPOCRISY: A CASE STUDY OF THE NIGERIA EXTREMIST GROUP.
As millions of people across the whole world send their condolences to the family of Sheihk Usman Dahiru Bauchi and the members of the Tijjaniya group worldwide, the Extremist group and it affiliates are cautioning their members to desist from offering condolence due to ideological differences. The Islamic group of Tijjaniya is known to be in existence for centuries without having any issues with any group or religion, the Tijjaniya are equally the founders of interfaith initiative to promote peace and harmonious coexistence. Unfortunately to Nigeria as a whole, the creation of this extremist group came with violent approach, targeting not only those of other faiths, also those that share thesame religion with them but don't agree with their radicalism. The Tijjaniya Muslim believe radical approach is not the teaching of our prophet (Muhammad Rasulullahi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and other prophets that came before Him.
This extremist sect, initially began to poison the minds of Muslims by prohibiting them from the eating festive foods of other faiths, despite a well established Islamic backing that muslims are allowed to marry Christians and remain faithful and respectful towards them. This is enough prove that, we must embrace ourselves regardless of what ever difference we may have. This very particular approach surrounding festive foods marked the beginning of the rift between the two peaceful religions, it also send a wave of distrust across the political atmosphere. One might wonder, if those extremists travel abroad with their own cooked food to avoid eating food in their host country where food of their choice is not available. Perhaps, they have never attended international gathering abroad where food are served and enjoyed on spot without hesitation.
History has it that, the two religions have traditionally visited each other during festivities to celebrate love and unity, as they all understand their similarities and differences. An undisputed Islamic history records that, our prophet (Muhammad Rasulullahi Sallallahu) send His disciples to a Christian king in the then Abbysinia for their safety, after many of the disciples were been persecuted and killed in their own home town of Makkah. The Christain King gave shelters and food to the companions of our prophet (SAW), Until the emergence of this extremists group that we began to witness and hear derogatory comments against Christain bredren. This atrocious comment shakes the foundation of peace built by our beloved prophet. More over, The whole world believes that, the Tijjaniya group is known for having a deep understanding of Islam and it is believed that they have thousands of memorizers and writers of the Holy Qur'an, while the extremist probably have 1% compare to that of the Tijjaniyas.
It should be taken into account that, the Extremist are known by their fishy approach towards condemning radicalism, terrorism, and banditry. This is evident on social media as one on their preacher openly made it clear to the world that, it is better to live with bandits/terrorists than to live with any Tijjaniya members. They (extremeist) are known for preaching hatred against Muslims of the Tijjaniya and other sects, let alone the non Muslim bethren. The Muslim of the Tijjaniya group and it affiliates are known for peace and hospitality, they (Tijjaniya Muslim) don't discriminate, because they believe God Almighty in His infinite mercy create people in different faiths, as He (God) can create all mankind in the same religion if He (God) chose to.
There is no denying that, a few people in the system have been contracted to sow a seed of discord and we must unite to condemn any guise of deception.
It high time, that FG should enact a law that regulate preaching (sencorship), and all preachers must be certified by the Council of the two religions before allowing to preach. Also, Topics and contents of what to preach should be thoroughly scrutinized and anyone who violates it should be meted out by harsh punishment. The censorship in religion is practice in some countries in northern Africa, which help tamed all forms of sectarianism. why won't FG introduce censorship to Nigerian religious preachers?
