As we commemorate this important day, AYUC applauds the Ghanaian youth for their leadership, innovation, and commitment to advancing democracy, development, and African unity. Their contributions continue to shape a brighter and more inclusive future for the continent.

May this Independence Day renew our shared commitment to the ideals of freedom, unity, and progress, while strengthening efforts toward youth empowerment and the realization of “The Africa We Want.”

Happy Independence Day, Ghana!

End of Year Message from the Executive Chairperson – 2025 Reflection

As we come to the close of 2025, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to every member, volunteer, partner, and supporter of the African Youth Union Commission (AYUC). This year has been one of growth, resilience, impact, and collective progress.

Throughout 2025, AYUC strengthened its continental presence and voice. As Executive Chairperson, I had the honor of representing our organization at key high-level platforms, including the Southern Africa Youth Parliament held in South Africa in March, where youth legislative engagement and regional cooperation were strongly advanced. We also actively participated in major economic and development forums such as the US-Africa Business Forum in Luanda and the African Union Infrastructure Financing discussions, also in Luanda, reinforcing AYUC’s role in shaping youth-inclusive development and investment conversations.

Another important milestone was through my role as a member of the Lobito Corridor Business Taskforce. This engagement further positioned AYUC at the center of strategic discussions on trade, infrastructure, regional integration, and economic corridors that will define Africa’s future, ensuring that youth perspectives remain part of these transformative agenda.

I am immensely proud of our country chapters. Across the continent, youth-led activities organized at national and local levels were impactful, relevant, and community-driven. These initiatives strengthened our mission in areas of peace and security, entrepreneurship, trade, leadership development, and social cohesion. Our organization not only grew in numbers but also in influence, credibility, and reach.

The year further stood out for the strength of our partnerships.Through new collaborations, AYUC reached a new level of institutional maturity and visibility. We welcomed inspiring women in leadership who joined our structures and projects, bringing innovation, strength, and measurable impact to our work. Their contributions have been invaluable and reflect our commitment to inclusive leadership.

To our volunteers and team members: your dedication, time, and belief in the vision of AYUC made all of this possible. To the Board Members and the Executive Team, I extend my sincere congratulations and appreciation for your leadership, guidance, and unwavering support throughout both our wins and our challenges. Through every success and every setback, we stayed together, learned together and emerged stronger.

As we look ahead to 2026, I can confidently say that big surprises and greater opportunities await us. We are entering a new chapter of ambition, scale, and impact.

Thank you for believing in AYUC. Thank you for standing together. The future is bright, and we move forward stronger than ever.

With gratitude and determination,
Rabby N’dombassy
Executive Chairperson

Capacity Strengthening for Traditional, Religious, and Community Gatekeepers on GBV Prevention and Mitigation Strategies in the FCT by AMB OJINEME ENAKEME AYUC SEC. Gen

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) remains a pressing issue in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria, demanding urgent and effective interventions. Traditional, religious, and community gatekeepers play a crucial role in influencing societal norms and behaviors. Strengthening their capacity to prevent and mitigate GBV is essential for creating a safer environment for all, particularly for vulnerable populations.

Objectives:

1. Enhance Awareness: Educate gatekeepers about the forms, causes, and consequences of GBV.
2. Promote Dialogue: Foster open discussions surrounding GBV within communities to challenge harmful norms.
3. Identify Resources: Equip gatekeepers with tools and resources to address GBV effectively.
4. Collaborative Networks: Build partnerships among gatekeepers, local authorities, and NGOs for a unified response to GBV

By empowering traditional, religious, and community gatekeepers with knowledge and resources, we can cultivate a strong network dedicated to preventing and mitigating GBV in the FCT. This collaborative approach is vital for fostering a culture of respect and ensuring the safety and dignity of all community members.
