African Health Project (AHP) is a professional Non-governmental Organization founded in 1996 and is involved in efforts towards reducing the spread of diseases and alleviating poverty in African communities. Several communities have benefited from our HIV/AIDS prevention activities, research, sensitization, and capacity building and referral services since 2005. AHP is registered with the corporat
e affairs Commission in Nigeria (CAC/IT/No.16997). AHP has field offices in over 7 states in Nigeria with her head office located in the FCT. AHP intervention services are spread across all the states in Nigeria. AHP partners with serveral networks and has technical capacity in a variety of areas including M&E. AHP was commissioned to serve as the Civil society Organization (CEO) responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of the MDGs projects in FCT (2006 and 2007) and Nassarawa State (2008 and 2009). Among the various project monitoring include: Health, power and Steel, Agriculture, Water, Housing and Urban development, and Women Affairs and social Developoement. Services we Offer:

Among the various AHP past and current projects include: HIV/AIDS Funds (HAF) projects on Prevention & Care and Support Programme for pregnant women, Injecting Drug Users, Female s*x workers and their Patrons and other Key Populations (FCT, Nasarawa, Niger, Kogi and Benue, 2014), Management, Science for Health (MSH) on Prevention & Care and Support (Niger, 2014), Society for Family Health (SFH)/Population Council Project on Most At Risk Populations (MARPs) (FCT, 2013-date), AIDS Prevention Initiative Nigeria (APIN) projects on HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care and Support Programme (Plateau & Benue, 2011-2013), Hope World Wide Nigeria (HWWN) project on Assistance and Care for Children, Orphan and Most At Risk Population (Kogi, 2012-2013). Our Past Activities
Between 2003 to date, AHP has participated in several HIV/AIDS interventions in Nigeria in collaboration with the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), FCT Agency for the Control of AIDs (FACA), Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH), Kogi State Agency for the Control of AIDS (KOSACA), Nasarawa State Agency for the control of AIDs (NASACA), Niger State Agency for the control of AIDs (NGSACA), Plateau State Agency for the control of AIDs (PLACA), FCT Agency for the control of AIDs (FACA), Hope World Wide Nigeria (HWWN), and several state governments. AHP managed several interventions and provided technical leadership and support to the planning and training processes and coordinated the design and implementation of the field activities in collaboration with government agencies at all levels. Among the projects AHP has successfully managed for Abts associates include Situational Assessment of Human Resources in the Public and Private Health Sectors in Nigeria, the Service Provision Assessment (SPA) for HIV/AIDS, the comprehensive assessment of HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support programs in private and public health facilities in Nigeria and the development of the Health Sector Strategic Plan (HSSP) and Implementation Plan for Nigerian’s health sector response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic (between 2004 and 2010). Between 2007 and 2010, African Health Project in partnership with Population Council implemented the USAID funded Married Adolescents Project (MAP) which focused on HIV prevention among Married Adolescents and their partners in 8 Northern States namely; Adamawa, Bauchi, FCT, Borno, FCT, Kano, Nasarawa and Niger. AHP also partnered with Population Council on the CDC funded Men’s Health network (MHNN) in the FCT. The MHNN intervention sought to avert new HIV and STIs among high risk men engaged in multiple, concurrent s*xual relationships. Also, AHP implements the Global Fund Round 9 MARPs HIV prevention among Drug Users in the FCT and Nasarawa State funded by Population Council (2010-2011). AHP was involved in the implememntation of the S*xual Transmission Prevention- Assistance and Care to Children Orphaned and at Risk (STP-ACCORD) project sponsored by HOPE Worldwide Nigeria/USAID from February to September, date. Between 2011 and date AHP has been involved in the implementation of the project on HIV Prevention among MARPs (female s*x workers, Transport workers, Male and female out of School Youths and OVC in FCT with funding from APIN/CDC. Since 2009, AHP has been involved in the Enhancing Nigerian Response (ENR) which is a six year Integrated Institutional Strengthening, Governance and HIV prevention programme funded by the British Government’s Department for International Development (DFID). African Health Project offers consultancy services to various local and international organizations including Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and implementing partners. AHP provides support for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and offers training on OVC, HCT and STI syndromic management. Other ongoing project by AHP includes collaboration with Society for Family Health under the Global Fund project among Female S*x Workers and their clients in Nasarawa State since 2010 to date.
