2026, A Year to Build What Lasts

A new year gives us a moment to pause, reflect, and recommit.

At SOSF, the work has never been about quick wins or short-term fixes. It’s about equipping people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to shape their own futures — and strengthening the systems that support them.

As we step into this new year, we remain focused on what matters most:
education that prepares,
skills that unlock opportunity,
and communities that grow stronger together.

2026 is another chance to listen more deeply, partner more intentionally, and keep building pathways that create lasting impact.

Here’s to a year of purpose, progress, and people-powered change. 🌍

At SOSF, the work has never been about running programs for the sake of activity. It’s about building structures that people can actually stand on.

In 2026, we’re continuing to expand Online Skill-Up for Business — practical learning that helps entrepreneurs move from ideas to structured, sustainable ventures. We’re also preparing to roll out Online Skill-Up for Career, designed to strengthen work readiness, career growth, and long-term employability.

But beyond platforms and programs, our focus remains clear:
strengthening learning, supporting livelihoods, and using data and advocacy to shape systems that last — long after any single intervention ends.

This is the kind of impact we’re committed to building. Step by step. With purpose.

As the year wraps up, we’re reflecting on what we’ve shared all year — SOSF’s philosophy, values, and proof of impact.

From strengthening learning outcomes and youth development, to relaunching our Online Skill Lab for Business (OSB) on Udemy with 3,000+ learners globally, to supporting ambassadors move from being held back to building forward — an example being Mustapha Abdulsamad (WAKA SUB).

And through trainings we supported like the Youth Digital Power Bootcamp by the Youth Animation Unit, Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), we kept investing in what matters: skills, confidence, and opportunity.

Real change doesn’t stop at projects — it reaches the rules that shape everyday life.

At SOSF, our work with communities generates more than outcomes; it generates evidence. Through data, research, and lived insights from the field, we identify what’s working, what isn’t, and what needs to change. That evidence fuels our advocacy — engaging institutions, partners, and policymakers to improve how education, employability, and entrepreneurship are supported at scale.

This is how lessons from classrooms, farms, and communities inform decisions at the policy table — turning experience into regulation that works for people.

Because when policy is shaped by real data and real lives, systems become fairer, stronger, and more effective.

Mustapha Abdulsamad: Progress Report Update

From a young entrepreneur trying to stay afloat… to a founder steadily building a nationwide digital service.

Mustapha Abdulsamad’s journey with SOSF is one we’re genuinely proud of.

Earlier this year, after receiving support through our Zakat Fund, Mustapha put the funding straight to work strengthening WAKA SUB, his digital telecom platform that helps users across Nigeria buy data, pay utility bills, and access essential digital services.

Today, his progress speaks for itself:

🔹 Three banks integrated for easier wallet funding — Moniepoint MFB, WEMA Bank, and Sterling Bank.
🔹 New data plan categories added (SME, Corporate, Gifting) to give customers more flexible options.
🔹 A chatbot and dedicated customer support line launched to improve user experience.
🔹 Recharge card printing feature built, ready to go once stock becomes available.
🔹 A full video guide now helps users navigate the platform easily.
🔹 A Monify business account created to replace restrictions he faced with some banks giving users more payment alternatives.

And he’s not slowing down.
Next quarter? A full mobile app rollout.
Mustapha is already preparing to transition WAKA SUB from a web-only platform to a fully functional mobile app on the Play Store.

His story is a reminder that when support meets determination, real progress becomes inevitable.

He is still building. Still learning. Still pushing.

This is what empowerment looks like in real life, one upgrade, one feature, one bold step at a time.

At SOSF, we’ve learned something simple but powerful: people grow faster when they grow together.

That’s why our Headstart Program works through existing cooperatives, farming clusters, and community groups. When entrepreneurs learn, produce, and solve problems side by side, three things happen:

• Skills spread faster because knowledge moves from one member to the entire group.
• Income grows more consistently because communities negotiate better prices and share opportunities.
• Sustainability becomes real because the community itself keeps the progress going long after the program ends.

From agropreneurs improving yields to informal traders strengthening their businesses, cooperatives make transformation a shared journey not a lonely one.

At SOSF, service isn’t just about carrying out interventions but about changing the way development is done.

Our work begins with listening, grows through learning, and becomes stronger through advocacy and institutional change.
We challenge old models by ensuring communities aren’t just beneficiaries, but partners in identifying needs, shaping solutions, and sustaining results.

From improved classrooms and empowered teachers to agropreneurs with stronger markets and youth with real digital skills, our service is built around one idea:
development should be people-driven, data-led, and designed to last.

That’s how we disrupt the landscape, not with noise, but with impact that holds its ground long after we leave.

Empowering Digital Talent, One Skill at a Time 🚀

On November 10th, SOSF joined the opening ceremony of the Youth Digital Power Bootcamp, organised by the Youth Animation Unit of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN).
We supported the bootcamp as a sponsor, believing deeply in what these young creators were building.

Our Founder shared a keynote that encouraged every participant to see their skills as tools for shaping their future and their communities.

By the time we returned for the closing ceremony on November 14th, the transformation was clear.
These young people had spent the week mastering real, market-ready skills:
🎬 Scriptwriting
📸 Photography & Videography
✂️ Editing
🌐 Web Administration
🎨 Visual Graphics
📱 Social Media

And to celebrate excellence, SOSF awarded the Overall Best Participant, Blessing Ezeobi, with a ₦100,000 prize recognising hard work, creativity, and potential.

But we didn’t stop there.
We introduced participants to the SOSF Online Skill-Up for Business (OSB) courses, practical learning designed to help them turn their new digital skills into real livelihood opportunities.
From legal compliance to financial management, communication, and sales, OSB gives young creators the knowledge they need to build and grow sustainable digital businesses.

This is what empowerment looks like, skills, opportunity, and a clear path forward.

When farmers begin to produce more, the next question becomes: what can this become?
Phase 2 of Headstart answers that question by helping communities move beyond raw harvests into real value creation.

Through training, processing skills, cooperative support, and access to simple technologies, farmers shift from selling produce to building small industries — turning cassava into flour or chips, plantain into packaged foods, and harvests into income that circulates within the community.

This phase is where livelihoods deepen, jobs emerge, and rural economies start to grow from the inside out. Because value addition doesn’t just change production — it changes possibility.

December always has a way of slowing us down just enough to see the impact of every step we’ve taken.

For us at SOSF, it’s a reminder of the students who found confidence this year,
the teachers who discovered new ways to reach their classrooms,
the entrepreneurs who turned skills into income,
and the partners who helped us stretch possibility a little further.

This month, we’re choosing to stay present — to listen, to learn, and to keep creating pathways that make education, employability, and entrepreneurship possible for more people.

As the year wraps up, our purpose stays the same:
empower people, strengthen systems, and build futures that last.

Here’s to a December filled with clarity and meaningful impact. 🌍✨

Breaking Barriers: Sapphire Stars NGN1.5M Scholarship Scheme

Some milestones stay with us — this was one of them.

Through the Sapphire Stars NGN1.5M Scholarship Scheme, launched by Sapphire Platforms in partnership with SOSF, four outstanding students from our Bridge Phase 2 Program received full support to pursue their studies in STEM and related fields.

The scholarship was awarded to young people who had already shown exceptional academic strength, a passion for innovation, and a commitment to improving their communities. And they didn’t disappoint.

Here are the changemakers who earned it:
🔹Innocent Aniekan (Akwa Ibom) – Mechanical Engineering Technology, Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa
🔹 Michael Onoja (Kogi)– Computer Science, Federal University Lokoja
🔹 Binta Ibrahim (Kogi) – Medicine, University of Jos
🔹 Hauwa Ali Adamu (Borno) – Building Technology, FUT Minna

Their achievements showed what happens when opportunity meets hard work — and why expanding access to quality education remains at the heart of what we do.

These scholars didn’t just receive funding; they gained a platform to dream bigger, create more, and shape the future.

Phase 1: Improving Yields, Opening Markets

Before farmers can grow their income, they must first grow their productivity — and that’s where Phase 1 of Headstart begins.

Through technical training, access to funding, and the right inputs, we help farmers move from low-yield subsistence to productive, sustainable agriculture.
And as yields rise, so does opportunity: new markets open up, cooperatives strengthen, and farmers begin to build the kind of resilience that lasts beyond a single season.

This is how livelihoods change — one skill, one harvest, one informed decision at a time.
