Osun 2026 offered important lessons for Nigeria’s electoral future. Yiaga Africa’s PRVT estimates were consistent with INEC’s official results, while citizens played an important role by staying engaged beyond casting their ballots and following the process through counting and collation. Security agencies also largely demonstrated restraint, even as concerns around vote buying and voter inducement remain.
The bigger question now is whether the lessons from Osun can be sustained and scaled ahead of 2027. From election logistics and technology to results transparency and citizen vigilance, the evidence points to gains worth building on and gaps that must be addressed.
