Girls' Voices

Girls' Voices Girls' Voices Initiative is building a girls’ rights movement.

We educate girls about their rights and empower them to champion their advocacy because GIRLS CAN! Girls' Voices is a safe space for girls to share and connect their voices on a wide variety of issues; education, health, s*x, love, fashion, career, entertainment and a whole lot of other issues girls love to talk about. Here, girls are doing the talking and sharing knowledge among each other to bui

ld a formidable force for them to engage society as they mature. Adolescent girls are a peculiar group in society that have been overlooked; governments around the world develop policies for children, youth and then adult men and sometimes women. At the adolescent stage, the girl is no longer a child and not yet in the youth category and so she seems left out of the loop. At this stage, girls are married off in some societies and they completely lose their opportunity to get an education or develop any skills that can provide equal level playing field for them in society.

On this World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, we remember that behind many online scams are real people, including girls and young women, who have been trafficked, exploited, and stripped of their freedom.

Girls deserve to be safe, informed, and empowered. By equipping them with knowledge of their rights, digital safety skills, and access to supportive communities, we can reduce their vulnerability to trafficking and exploitation.

We remain committed to amplifying girls’ voices and advocating for a world where every girl can live, learn, and thrive free from violence and exploitation.

Happy International Friendship Day! 💛

At Girls Voices Initiative, we’ve witnessed the incredible power of true friendship and sisterhood. We believe these relationships are a bedrock for building girls’ confidence, strengthening their voices, and developing new skills through shared experiences.

That’s why we’re intentional about creating safe spaces through our trainings, workshops, and events where girls can learn about their rights, develop new abilities, spend time with friends, and build meaningful new connections.

When girls grow together, they thrive together.
Happy International Friendship Day! 🌸

“Realizing the hopes and aspirations of young people – today and for the future.”

Every girl has hopes. Every girl has dreams. Every girl deserves the chance to pursue them.

This World Population Day, we reaffirm that girls should never have to put their aspirations on hold because of violence, discrimination, child marriage, or unequal access to education and healthcare.

When girls are supported to learn, lead, and make informed choices about their lives, they don’t just build brighter futures for themselves—they create lasting change for their families, communities, and generations to come.

Today and every day, let’s choose a world where every girl’s hopes are protected, her voice is heard, and her future is hers to shape.

Drug abuse doesn’t begin with a substance. For many girls, it begins with trauma, violence, neglect, poverty, or the pressure to survive.

This year’s World Drug Day theme, “World drug problem: persisting issues, new challenges, innovative responses,” reminds us that while the challenges continue to evolve, our response must evolve too.

Girls are often overlooked in conversations about drug abuse. Some are manipulated into transporting or selling drugs through coercion, poverty, or exploitation. Others turn to drugs as a way to numb the pain of abuse, child marriage, displacement, or other forms of violence. Behind many of these stories is a girl who needed protection, support, and hope long before she needed rehabilitation.

Prevention means more than saying “no” to drugs. It means creating safe homes, strengthening mental health support, expanding access to education, protecting girls from exploitation, and ensuring every girl has the opportunity to thrive.

The most innovative response we can offer is one that addresses the root causes, protects girls before they become vulnerable, and reminds every survivor that healing is possible.

How can you capture a day of innovation, curiosity, teamwork, and big dreams in one word?

You can’t.

But our participants gave it a try.

As we celebrate International Women in Engineering Day 2026, we’re looking back on a day that challenged girls to think creatively, solve problems, build, collaborate, and imagine new possibilities for the future.

We celebrate the visioneers 's Engineering Society, we celebrate our partnership and , our chaperone teachers from GSS Kubwa and GSS Maitama, and every girl who showed up ready to learn, create, and dream bigger.

The future of engineering is bright—and she’s just getting started. 🚀✨

International Widows’ Day shines a light on the experiences of millions of widows worldwide who continue to face poverty, discrimination, social exclusion, and barriers to exercising their rights.

At Girls Voices, we are especially mindful of the girls whose childhoods are cut short by child marriage. For some, the challenges do not end there. They become widows at a young age, navigating grief, economic hardship, stigma, and increased vulnerability while still trying to build their own futures.

Widowhood should never mean the loss of dignity, opportunity, or protection. Yet for many women and girls, it deepens existing inequalities and limits access to education, livelihoods, healthcare, and justice.

As we reflect on this observance, we echo the call to make widows visible—not only in statistics, but in policies, programmes, and conversations. Every widow deserves to be seen, heard, protected, and empowered to live with dignity and hope. For girls affected by child marriage and early widowhood, this means ensuring that loss is not followed by a lifetime of exclusion and poverty.

Today, on International Women in Engineering Day, we celebrate the women designing solutions, building communities, and shaping the future through engineering.

This year’s theme, , reminds us that engineering is more than machines and technology. It is creativity, problem-solving, innovation, and leadership in action.

At Girls Voices, we believe every girl deserves the opportunity to explore STEM, break barriers, and see herself as a future engineer, inventor, or innovator. When girls are empowered to create solutions, entire communities benefit.

Here’s to the women engineers changing the world today and the girls who will lead tomorrow.

Curiosity, creativity, and innovation were on full display as we celebrated International Women in Engineering Day 2026 with an inspiring STEM experience for young girls.
In collaboration with Odyssey Educational Foundation and Tech Women Nigeria, participants explored engineering concepts, took part in a robotics challenge, shared innovative ideas, and connected with women in tech who shared their journeys and lessons learned along the way.
A huge thank you to our partners, facilitators, and participants for making the day a memorable one.
Together, we are helping to build a future where more girls can learn, lead, innovate, and thrive in STEM.
