eria. This initiative commenced immediately the nation declared lock down and feeding becomes challenging for many families and households during the Covid-19 pandemic. The organisation came as a succor to many at a time no one including the government is ready to provide palliative to families ravaged by hunger. It was a time nearly every home in the country is vulnerable to hunger considering the fact that many households live and survive on daily income. At this critical time, FOSA came to rescue the situation by providing relief materials and food items to many households, thus averting serious disaster in the form of mental, physical, emotional and psychological trauma for many. These people will forever be grateful to FOSA foundation as many received their packages with tears of joy and gratitude toward the unexpected kind gesture. The mission of FOSA Foundation is to engender wealth creation by empowering Nigerians from all walks of life without any form of discrimination. YOUTHS AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT;
The focus of FOSA Foundation in empowering youths and women in the country cut across people of different levels of education in which every category is taken care of. FOSA Foundation (an acronym word formed from the name of a son of the soil) has remained true to its avowed commitment of empowering one person per day, and in a couple of years to come, over 2000 persons would have been lifted out of poverty. For those with minimal level of formal education, FOSA foundation will be empowering them with ITC education and providing them with basic ICT materials in which many would have become employers of labour themselves in no distance time. The focus of FOSA Foundation in this respect is to encourage millions of Nigerian youths to use the internet for positive engagement as against going into cyber crime to tarnish the reputation of the country. This itself is another way of fighting cyber crime by the foundation as a way of creating a saver, saner and more respected society for all. Many as well will be supported to set up small businesses ranging from trading, hairdressing, vulcanising, grinding mill. Others who desire transportation Business will be given vehicles and cash, ranging from N10,000 to N100,000 per person. This is to take people out of poverty and make them self reliance. Now, besides empowering people from all walks of life with over 50 units of vehicles and 250 motorcycles in few years to come, a good number of indigent youths in the entertainment, lifestyle and sporting sectors are billed to be beneficiaries of FOSA Foundation's gesture as the foundation is committed to discovering and empowering young talents of different kinds. With the huge opportunities in this sector the young Nigerians, FOSA Foundation is definitely going grassroot in its drive to create a chain of youths capable of contributing positively to the economy. CHILDREN AND GIRL CHILD EDUCATION;
With the revelation that Nigeria has the highest number of out of school children which stood at over ten million and realising that no nation or people can be greater than the level of her human resource, FOSA Foundation has made children education it primary focus. This is to catch them young with a view to building a future generations that will be passionate about nation building having being empowered mentally. This came as a result of the fact that no nation can grow beyond the level of the intellect of her people. This is foresightedness on the part of FOSA Foundation. With the girl child mostly affected, FOSA Foundation is going deep by organising seminars and enlightenment for people in the rural communities across the country on the importance of girl child education as the saying that educating a girl child is like educating a whole nation. WIDOW EMPOWERMENT;
In a society where widows are seen and treated with disdain and neglect, FOSA Foundation is committed to providing succor to many of them by empowering them and give their lives a meaning once more. It is pathetic that many bad cultural practices still exist across the country today that treat widows with disrespect and dishonour. Widowhood to FOSA Foundation shouldn't be an opportunity for anyone to maltreat women. Widowhood is a condition that could happen to anyone at anytime. The pains and agony of loosing a very loved one is enough trauma that should attract people's sympathy instead of the opposite. In this regard, apart from economic empowerment for widows to make them stand firmly on their feet, FOSA Foundation is also given them psychological and mental help to assist those who can't get over the shock of the dead of their loved ones. These will no doubt create a new being in them with a view to putting the past behind and facing a brighter future ahead of them. Thus, this is a way of creating a new being in them. HEALTHCARE FOR CHILDREN, PREGNANT WOMEN, NURSING MOTHERS AND THE AGED;
In term of vulnerability to diseases, sicknesses and other health related attack, children, pregnant women, nursing mothers and the ages are the most vulnerable. These categories of people are usually with weak immune system. They are usually susceptible to attack of many micro-organisms like bacteria, viruses and fungi. The weakness of their immune system is the reason for the high morality rate usually recorded in the case of an outbreak. In Nigeria, mosquitoes is responsible for many miscarriages and child mortality arising from malaria. This is why FOSA Foundation is already into massive distribution of insecticide treated nets across the length and breathe of the country especially in rural communities. As prevention is better and cheaper than cure, this drive will go a long way in preventing mosquitoes that causes malaria thereby preventing children and pregnant women and their unborn babies. Also, FOSA Foundation with its medical team is already across the country testing and treating people especially the aged to ascertain their healthy living. FOSA Foundation is resolved to given free eyes test and treatment to the aged among other health conditions. Areas of healthcare attention by FOSA Foundation include, blood pressure checking, sugar level testing, medical and health talk and advise, counseling and many more. In line with the premium FOSA Foundation placed on education, the foundation is committed to giving out scholarship and bursary to exceptional students across institutions in the country. This is to encourage learning and rewarding hard work accordingly. The scholarship and bursary cut across Colleges of Education, Polytechnics and Universities in the country without any form of discrimination or favouritism. Also, FOSA Foundation is looking in the direction of encouraging reading culture among children and youths by organising competitions that encourage reading in which winners will be handsomely rewarded to serve as example to others. RELIEF MATERIALS FOR VICTIMS OF FLOOD DISASTERS AND THOSE DISPLACED AS A RESULT OF TERRORIST ACTIVITIES;
As a foundation passionate about humanity and value for lives of every human, FOSA Foundation cannot afford to look the way of millions of internally displaced Nigerians spread across the country especially in the northern part. Today, many have fled their homes and families scattered due to terrorist attacks. Many cannot say if their love ones are still alive or dead. Many who survived are now thrown into undeserved hardship in IDP Camps across the country in which governor of Borno State Babagana Zulum cried out recently that Boko Haram are now recruiting members from the IDP Camps enticing them material gifts. Very unfortunate and the more reason FOSA Foundation is going to those camps to provide relief materials for the displaced people. Also, FOSA Foundation is committed to empowering them including the women in different skills that could make them economically fit to stand on their own. Many today did not realise the pains and agony many are currently passing through having been displaced by flood. These people have lost many or all that they labour hard to acquire. FOSA Foundation is also providing every needed supports to these people especially those that lost their farmlands and their produce.
