Public Holiday in Botswana 🇧🇼 - The president of Botswana has declared a 'half-day public holiday' across the country, to celebrate Letsile Tebogo who became their first athlete ever to win a GOLD medal at the .

Survey shew;

Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi gave everyone a half-day national holiday in recognition of Tebogo's victory and to “pause and celebrate him,” his office said. Botswana citizens will get an 'afternoon day off' on Friday-Ongoing now, as a tribute to Tebogo who brought joy to their country on Thursday, winning the GOLD medal in men's 200m; the first African to win this title.

According to the survey,

"Today, I flagged off the distribution of N4.6bn worth of agricultural inputs and MSMEs grants to farmers, communities, and IT startups across our state. This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to food security, agro-industrialisation, and the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in our state.

I emphasised the importance of nurturing small-scale entrepreneurs for sustainable growth, as they are the lifeblood of our economy. To support them, we’re providing 12,000 small-holder farmers with one bag of fertiliser each, donated by the federal government. Additionally, 51 power tillers, each worth N2m, will be distributed to farmers across Enugu’s farming clusters.

"We’re also distributing agricultural inputs to 1,251 beneficiaries in all 17 local government areas. These inputs include rice and bean seedlings, cassava stems, organic fertilisers, and herbicides.

I’m particularly proud to announce a significant investment of N1bn in MSMEs, with 80% of this sum dedicated to women-owned enterprises. This includes N60,000 disbursements to over 16,000 beneficiaries, primarily targeting nano-enterprises.

"In addition, we’re disbursing N400,000 to 187 beneficiaries, providing N7.5m each to 10 tech startups, and offering operational grants for solar equipment to 256 beneficiaries. We’re also equipping 269 recipients with laptops, POS terminals, and other essential tools.

Our administration is also committed to ending open defecation this year. To this end, we’re launching a N15m water provision and sanitation-enhancing initiative across 135 communities, which includes the construction of boreholes, toilet facilities, and power generators in town halls, markets, and schools.

"I urge all beneficiaries to use these resources wisely, creating jobs, sparking a revolution in agriculture, and boosting our state’s economy. Together, we can achieve remarkable results and make Enugu State a beacon of progress and prosperity.
