http://ausc2026.co.ke/

The African Universities Student Leaders Conference (AUSC) will be held from 29 September – 1 October 2026 in Moi University, Eldoret, Kenya.

We seek to engage with organizations, institutions, companies, development partners, foundations, and youth led organizations as we bring together student leaders and stakeholders to deliberate on the issues shaping Africa’s future.

Some of the areas we would like to engage with partners include:

• Technology and digital transformation
• Climate and environmental action
• Energy and renewable energy
• Education and skills development
• Innovation, research and development
• Entrepreneurship and economic growth
• Civil society and social development
• Democracy, governance and civic participation
• Youth development and leadership
• Policy, development and regional integration
• Media and communications

AUSC is an opportunity to connect leaders, ideas, conversations, knowledge, network and collaborate. By engaging with us as partners, we are confident that we can create opportunities for dialogue, knowledge exchange, networking, innovation and collaboration between young leaders and institutions in Africa.

If your institution is dedicated to youth leadership, innovation and development in Africa, we would love to explore a partnership with you.

Functional GBV Desk Project Supported by Rise Up Together

DEAN Initiative is strengthening community action to end violence against women and girls through the VAPP-Local GBV Champions Training, bringing together 30 Community GBV Champions from Gwagwalada, Kuje and Kwali Area Councils.

The two-day training equips Champions with practical skills in SMART advocacy, policy advocacy, community mobilisation, stakeholder engagement, GBV awareness and evidence generation preparing them to take community voices forward in the advocacy for functional GBV Desks at the Area Council level.

This is a step towards ensuring that the protections provided by the VAPP Act are translated into accessible, responsive services for women and girls at the local level.

🌟 16 New Leaders, Ready to Ignite Change! 🌟

Last week, these passionate leaders completed their intensive Creolabs training! 🚀By mastering this innovative framework, they are now fully equipped to spark creativity, drive problem-solving, and mentor the next generation of changemakers in Kenya's classrooms and community hubs.

We understand sustainable development thrives when local leaders guide their own communities. We are incredibly proud of their dedication. Please join us in celebrating their hard work and wishing them the absolute best! 👏👏

Special thank you and mention to Joe Woods for his contribution and participation towards this impactful initiative.

For years, S.M.I.L.E hosted the Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) the way most events are hosted, a lineup of speakers, a large room, and a great deal of inspiration. However, during interviews conducted last year with applicants to the Executive Mentoring Programme for Youth(EMPY), we discovered that a few months after the summit many participants struggled to name one specific, actionable takeaway from the summit.

This insight prompted a deliberate change in approach for YLS 2026. Attendance was intentionally reduced from over 1,200 participants to 500, to create room for depth rather than size. Every participant received a fully personalised workbook, guiding them toward their own individual career, business, or social enterprise roadmap, rather than a generic speakers centred summit. Mentors were also placed directly within small breakout groups for extended, focused engagement, not brief interactions.

This is what a personalised learning model looks like in practice, and it is why the impact of this year's Summit can already be measured in real, ongoing action, not just fond memories.

If you were there, which part of the personalised model helped you most?
