Today is International Youth Day, and this year's theme says it best young people everywhere are living completely different realities, but chasing remarkably similar things: dignity, opportunity, and a real shot at a stable future.

Whether you're in Abuja, Lagos or Minna, job hunting or building a business from your hostel room, the road often feels lonely — like your specific struggle is yours alone to carry.

It's not. Every young person we work with across every program, every state — is reaching for the same thing: financial stability, real skills, and a seat in the conversations that shape their future. Different contexts, common aspirations.

And That's the whole reason GMI exists.

Today, we're celebrating every young person still showing up for that dream.

Are you the person people already come to for direction?

If you're the one organizing the class WhatsApp group, running the department's events, or the friend everyone asks "how do we start this?" that's exactly the instinct SLEP is looking for.

A lot of natural leaders never apply for roles like this because they assume "ambassador" programs are for people who already have a big following or a fancy title.

You don't need either. You need drive, organizing skills, and genuine passion for entrepreneurship and youth empowerment. That's it.

=> ​About : We are a youth-led nonprofit dedicated to empowering young people with the knowledge and opportunities they need to thrive, while advocating for policies that promote self-reliance.

=> ​About : DataCamp is an online learning platform Founded in 2013 focused on data science, analytics, and AI skills through hands-on, interactive coding exercises. The company is headquartered in New York City, USA.

Together, we're accelerating access to employability and AI skills to Young People in Nigeria!

Last Month in Minna with Support from the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF), Glowingmindsinitiatives | Youth skills & Capacity building in partnership with Altruistic & Humanitarian Aid Foundation we brought together representative of Youth-led Organisations, Youth-focused Organisations, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Disability Rights Organisations, Women-led and Women focused Organisations and the Media for a Policy Dialogue and the Validation of the draft Niger State Youth Policy.

The SLEP Campus Ambassador role is open to students currently in 200L–300L (for 4-year courses) or 200L–400L (for 5-year courses).

We know a lot of final-year students have been asking and we want to be upfront: final year students aren't eligible for this round, since the role runs across a full academic session.

If you're in that eligible range and you've got a track record in student leadership or community organizing, you're exactly who we're looking for.

This isn't a "put it on your CV and forget it" role.

As a SLEP Campus Ambassador, you're not just wearing a title you're mobilizing students into the program, building GMI's Entrepreneurship Club on your campus from scratch, and running the trainings and meetups yourself.

Most "ambassador" programs out there hand you a name tag and nothing real to build.

This one hands you an actual campus movement to lead mobilize, build, impact. Real leadership experience, not just a title.

In the past 5 years, GMI has been quietly building a track record in youth employability and capacity building not just running programs, but tracking what actually happens after.

Numbers on their own can feel like PR. We get it, everyone claims "impact."

So here's the honest one: 200+ of our program graduates are fully trained not just to be certified, but with real capacity from experts who have walked different paths.

That's the number we hold ourselves to; real career readiness, not just certificates.

Starting today, GMI is opening applications for the SLEP Campus Ambassador(s) and we are only picking ONE student leader per public university in Nigeria.

Opportunities like this don't stay open for long, and the students who miss them are usually the ones who meant to apply "later."

If you've got the drive to lead, build, and mobilize on your campus, this is your entry point into GMI's Student Leadership and Entrepreneurship Program.
