🔹 *Project Overview*

In commemoration of *Rotary’s Economic and Community Development Month (October)*, the *Rotary Club of Abuja Wuse II*, in partnership with *Bedex Development Foundation*, carried out an impactful *Economic Empowerment Project* within its adopted community, *Karon Majiji*, located in the outskirts of Abuja.

The project aimed to strengthen livelihoods, promote self-reliance, and provide food relief capacity among local residents through the support of the Bedex Development Foundation, who sponsored the project.

🔹 *Activities & Implementation*

*Identification of Beneficiaries:* 354 community members (men and women) were selected from *Fadan Sarkin Guraku area* through the leadership of the *community head, P. R. O. , Mallam Ibrahim and local coordinators.*
*Empowerment Support:* Beneficiaries received food grains packed and was distributed
* *Engagement Session:* Rotary members and partners interacted with beneficiaries, highlighting Rotary’s mission to promote sustainable development and inclusive growth.
* *Visibility & Participation:* Members proudly represented Rotary in their *Polio caps+Tshirts and project jackets*, reinforcing the spirit of *People of Action*.

🔹 *Community Impact*

* Over *350 households* benefited from the distribution of the food grains
* Strengthened the community’s trust and partnership with Rotary and Bedex Foundation.
* Promoted Rotary’s global focus on *economic empowerment and sustainable livelihoods* within underserved areas.

This project aligns directly with Rotary’s seventh Area of Focus - *Economic and Community Development* , by promoting opportunities for self-reliance and empowering lives.

Rotarians Raise $1,000 in Support of the End Polio Now Campaign

In commemoration of World Polio Day 2025, the Rotary Club of Abuja Wuse II held a special fellowship dedicated to Polio Awareness and Fundraising. The meeting focused on deepening members’ understanding of Rotary’s flagship global cause and inspiring greater community action.

*Presided over by President Rtn. Bede Okafor, PHF,* the fellowship featured an inspiring lecture delivered by *PAG Winny Fonaka, District Paul Harris Society Coordinator (2024–2026) and Chartered President of RC Abuja Wuse II*

Speaking on the topic “End Polio Now: Why the Last 1% Demands 100% of Our Effort,” PAG Winny shared a touching personal story about a family member affected by polio, the experience that shaped her dedication to the Rotary cause.

She reflected on the legacy of Dr. Jonas Salk, who freely gifted the world with the polio vaccine, and called on all Rotarians to sustain the momentum until the disease is completely eradicated.

Her passionate address moved members and guests to action, resulting in generous donations toward Rotary’s End Polio Now Fund.
