Human rights work is not distant work.
It lives in everyday realities, in conversations, in systems.
At the Dorothy Njemanze Foundation, we often encourage partners, institutions, donors, and individuals to visit our facilities because sometimes, the true depth of survivor-centred response can only be understood when experienced firsthand.
Yesterday, we welcomed Monica Mendez Caballero, the Head of Consular Section and Gender Liaison at the Embassy of Mexico in Nigeria, to our Survivor Support Centre and Crisis & Transitional Shelter, where she engaged with survivors and gained deeper insight into the realities surrounding sexual and gender-based violence and the systems that support healing, protection, and recovery.
Beyond reports, statistics, and social media posts, facility visits create space for meaningful human connection and a clearer understanding of how human rights intersect with daily life. They help strengthen empathy, inspire informed action, and encourage stronger collaborative efforts for prevention, response, and survivor support.
Because Gender Based Violence is everybody’s business, so is supporting survivors.
Our doors remain open to individuals and institutions willing to learn, connect, partner and contribute to building safer and more responsive communities.
Thank you for your show of solidarity with survivors Abuja
