One thing meaningful partnerships have taught us at LeadUp is simple: lasting change requires shared commitment, honest conversations and action both for today and the future.

An Emeritus Professor of Demography at the University of Ibadan, he brings decades of expertise in population studies, reproductive health, policy, programme implementation, research and monitoring & evaluation.

With 160+ publications, 87+ Master’s theses supervised and 25 doctoral students mentored, his impact extends far beyond the classroom.

Last week, we attended the Gender and Inclusion Summit 2026, themed “From Agenda to Action: Making Innovations Count for the Last Mile.”

As highlighted by PIC Chairman, Udeme Ufot during the summit, progress has been made in developing policies, generating evidence and testing new ideas. The challenge now is turning them into real impact for people.

One message stood out: "A good idea on paper and a change in someone’s life are two different things." — Nabila Aguele, CEO, Malala Fund.

The more we engage young people, the more we realise: they don’t just need to be taught; they need to be heard.

From our school outreach on mental health and responsible social media use to our visit to an IDP camp where we discussed personal hygiene, one lesson keeps coming back:
