FIVE ROTARY CLUBS, ONE VISION: ADVANCING PEACE AND UNITY THROUGH DIALOGUE.
The Rotary Club of Abuja Maitama yesterday hosted a vibrant and impactful joint fellowship in collaboration with four sister clubs:
Rotary Club of Apo FCT
Rotary Club of Abuja Highrise
Rotary Club of Asokoro
Rotary Club of Abuja Harmony.
The fellowship brought Rotarians, friends, and distinguished guests together in a purposeful gathering centered on dialogue, unity, and service above self.
A major highlight of the fellowship was an insightful and engaging panel discussion facilitated by the Rotary Action Group for Peace. The thought-provoking topic, “Building Trust, Social Cohesion, and National Unity in a Divided Society,” resonated deeply with participants, reflecting Rotary’s commitment to peacebuilding at community and national levels.
The session was expertly facilitated by Pietro Uzochukwu (PADS), with Felicity Ijoga (PAG) serving as panel moderator. The panel featured distinguished speakers:
Goddy Nnadi (PDG)
Khadijah Abdulahi Iya (Dr.)
James Ugbeda (PDS), who offered rich perspectives drawn from leadership, governance, and community development.
Participants actively engaged the panel with incisive questions, sparking robust conversations and practical insights on trust-building, inclusive dialogue, and national cohesion. Despite the seriousness of the theme, the atmosphere remained warm and collegial, with moments of shared laughter underscoring the spirit of Rotary fellowship.
Adding color and vibrancy to the event were the Friends and guest of Paul Harris, whose presence enriched the gathering and reinforced the enduring legacy of Rotary’s ideals. In a significant milestone, all five participating clubs were formally recognized as Peace Builder Clubs, affirming their collective commitment to promoting peace and understanding.
Certificates of recognition were presented by the District Governor, Dame Joy Nky Okoro, marking the occasion as both celebratory and consequential for Rotary’s peace agenda in the Federal Capital Territory and District 9127 as a whole.
The fellowship concluded on a high note, with a shared resolve to deepen collaboration and sustain momentum. As echoed by many attendees, “Let’s do this again soonest.” InternationalDistrict9127,Nigeria
