HAPPY INTERNATIONAL MEN'S DAY!

Men are often seen as hard and unbreakable, but strength is also in vulnerability. It’s okay to be soft, to cry, to feel, and to restart again.

Today, we honor the men of ACF for their courage, compassion, and untiring commitment to humanity.

🌍 World Food Day 2025 | October 16
Theme: “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future”

Today, we join the global community in commemorating World Food Day 2025, a day to reflect, unite, and act against hunger. This year’s theme reminds us that only through collaboration across borders, sectors, and communities can we build resilient food systems and ensure a better future for all.

🇳🇬 In Nigeria, the urgency is real.
According to the latest Cadre Harmonisé analysis, a staggering 33.1 million Nigerians are projected to face acute food insecurity during the lean season (June–August 2025), an increase of 7 million from last year.

🔴 1.8 million children are at risk of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM), and 5.4 million children along with 800,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women are vulnerable to wasting and undernutrition.

📍The most affected regions include northwest and northeast Nigeria.

💚 How is Action Against Hunger responding?
In the face of these challenges, ACF is scaling up its nutrition, health, and food security programs across Nigeria.
• We are providing Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) and therapeutic milk to treat SAM in children.
• Our teams are supporting stabilization centers, especially in high-burden states in collaboration with national and state authorities, where admissions for malnutrition have surged by 68% in recent months.
• We continue to advocate for increased funding, local production of RUTF, and government commitment to nutrition budgets.
• Through community outreach, we promote correct use of nutrition products and fight against their misuse and illegal sale.

🤝 On this World Food Day, we reaffirm our commitment to stand hand in hand with communities, partners, and donors to fight hunger and malnutrition in Nigeria.

📢 Join us. Share this message. Support the cause.

Together, we can build a future where no child goes to bed hungry.

🧼🌍 Happy Global Handwashing Day 2025! 🌍🧼

Today, we celebrate the life-saving power of clean hands.

Handwashing with soap is one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent disease and protect our communities.

This year’s theme, “Be a Handwashing Hero!”, reminds us that everyone, from children to government leaders, can champion hand hygiene. Whether you are at home, school, work, or in a healthcare facility, washing your hands at critical times makes a world of difference.

🚰 Did you wash your hands properly today with soap under running water? If not, now’s the time!

At Action Against Hunger (ACF), we are proud to be part of the movement to ensure clean hands for all. Through our WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) programs, we:

✅ Build handwashing stations in our supported health centers.
✅ Train community health workers and volunteers to promote hand hygiene.
✅ Conduct awareness campaigns and hygiene education in vulnerable communities.
✅ Distribute soap and hygiene kits to families in need.
✅ Advocate for sustainable hygiene policies with local governments.

These efforts are helping to eradicate preventable diseases like cholera, diarrhea, and respiratory infections, especially among children.

💪 Be a handwashing hero. Lead the change. Save lives.
Together, we can make handwashing a habit and a right for everyone.

🌊 Garin Kolo Update – One Week After Relocation

One week ago, families displaced by the devastating floods in Garin Kolo, Yobe state, began a journey of recovery.

Today, their story is one of resilience, renewed hope, and the power of collective action.

Thanks to the generous funding from the German Humanitarian Assistance (GFFO German Missions in Nigeria) and the EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid (ECHO), Action Against Hunger (ACF) has been at the forefront of the emergency response via its Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM), bringing life-saving support directly to those who need it most.

📦 In Dawasa, Nangere LGA, where the displaced families are currently sheltered, ACF’s Rapid Response Mechanism team delivered:

• 250 full Non-Food Item (NFI) kits.
• Dignity kits and hygiene support to help restore safety, health, and dignity.

This intervention is more than just aid; it is a lifeline.

The response was made possible through strong collaboration with the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), UNOCHA, Local Government Authorities, Community Leaders, and other stakeholders.

These actors have provided consistent situation reports, enabled swift mobilization and distribution, and ensured protection and stability, creating a safe space for families to begin rebuilding.

Recovery takes time, but with every coordinated step, we are building back better.

Together, we are turning crisis into opportunity, and displacement into dignity.
