Date: Wednesday, 13th May 2026
Venue: Valencia Hotel, Wuse 2, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT)
Executive Summary
Today, the Rachel Owan Enoh Empowerment and Care Foundation had the privilege of participating in a high-level joint stakeholders’ meeting focused on reviewing the 1st Quarter 2026 implementation performance of the Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent, Elderly Health, Nutrition and Gender (RMNCAEH+N) programme in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The meeting brought together key government agencies, development partners, healthcare professionals, and humanitarian stakeholders to evaluate progress, identify systemic challenges, and chart a clear path for improved service delivery in maternal and child health across the FCT.
Objectives of the 1st Quarter Review Meeting
The meeting was convened to achieve the following critical goals:
1. Identify gaps, bottlenecks, and challenges affecting the effective implementation and service delivery of RMNCAEH+N interventions.
2. Strengthen coordination among all implementing partners while enhancing data-driven decision-making and technical support.
3. Assess progress made towards the achievement of key health indicators as outlined in the strategic plan.
4. Develop actionable points and practical recommendations to accelerate performance and ensure better outcomes in the remaining quarters of 2026.
These objectives were carefully pursued through structured presentations, interactive discussions, and group breakout sessions that allowed for frank and solution-oriented conversations.
Key Highlights and Deliberations
The session was a robust, head-to-head engagement that underscored the vital role of humanitarian and civil society organisations in complementing government efforts toward universal health coverage. Participants examined real-time data on key performance indicators, including antenatal care coverage, skilled birth attendance, immunization rates, nutrition interventions, adolescent health services, and gender-responsive programming.
Discussions also focused on emerging issues such as:
• Supply chain bottlenecks for essential maternal and child health commodities.
• Human resource gaps in hard-to-reach communities within the FCT.
• The need for stronger data quality and timely reporting systems.
• Integration of gender-sensitive approaches in all RMNCAEH+N activities.
• Opportunities for enhanced multi-sectoral collaboration with humanitarian affairs stakeholders.
A strong consensus emerged on the importance of sustained partnership, evidence-based planning, and community ownership in delivering quality healthcare services, particularly to vulnerable populations women, children, adolescents, and the elderly.
The meeting reinforced the Foundation’s commitment to bridging gaps in healthcare access and advancing the vision of equitable, high-quality reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, adolescent, elderly health, nutrition, and gender services across the Federal Capital Territory and beyond.
Strategic Way Forward
Action points and recommendations generated during the meeting will be consolidated into a comprehensive implementation tracker. All stakeholders committed to:
• Timely ex*****on of agreed interventions.
• Regular follow-up and progress reporting.
• Strengthened advocacy for increased domestic and partner funding.
• Improved documentation and knowledge sharing of best practices.
The Rachel Owan Enoh Empowerment and Care Foundation remains dedicated to playing a leading role in these efforts through targeted programmes, community outreach, capacity building, and evidence-based advocacy.
