25 JULY 2026: THE DAY A NEW CHAPTER BEGAN

There are moments in the life of an institution that become part of its history.

Saturday, 25 July 2026 was one of those moments for StandTall University.

At the B.O. Ukeje Auditorium of the National Commission for Colleges of Education in Abuja, traditional institutions, academia, government, enterprise and civil society came together to witness the formal investiture of His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, PhD, CFR, the 12th Lamido Fombina, as the Founding Chancellor of StandTall University.

But the day became about much more than an investiture.

It became an opportunity to articulate what the University intends to represent.

The keynote address challenged African universities to become centres where research addresses real societal problems, technology drives innovation, entrepreneurship creates opportunities and leadership is anchored on competence, character and service.

The University unveiled plans for landmark faculties and research centres honouring Aliko Dangote, Abdulsamad Isyaku Rabiu, Dr. Muhammadu Indimi, Senator Abdul'Aziz Abubakar Yari and Alhaji Auwalu A. Rano, transforming the achievements of distinguished Nigerians into academic platforms intended to serve future generations.

The journey towards the proposed Lamido Muhammadu Barkindo Senate House also began, with fundraising opened by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, GCON, followed by the Honourable Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, and other supporters of the University's vision.

And at the centre of it all stood the Founding Chancellor — accepting the responsibility of lending his experience, wisdom, leadership and institutional stature to the development of a new university.

Years from now, when the story of StandTall University is told, 25 July 2026 will occupy a special place in that history.

It was the day a Founding Chancellor was invested.

The day an academic and research vision was publicly articulated.

The day new institutional legacies were announced.

The day the foundation for a Senate House bearing the Chancellor's name began receiving support.

And, above all, the day StandTall University publicly reaffirmed an ambition much greater than establishing another university:

to build an institution capable of developing leaders, advancing knowledge, creating solutions and contributing meaningfully to the transformation of Africa.

The ceremony may have ended, but the work has only begun.

FROM DISTINGUISHED NAMES TO ENDURING INSTITUTIONS: STANDTALL UNIVERSITY UNVEILS LANDMARK FACULTIES AND RESEARCH CENTRES

One of the most significant announcements at the historic investiture of the Founding Chancellor was StandTall University's decision to establish specialised faculties and research centres honouring distinguished Nigerians whose achievements embody entrepreneurship, enterprise, leadership, science, technology and national development.

The University announced the proposed Aliko Dangote Centre for Emerging Entrepreneurs, conceived as a platform for nurturing enterprise, innovation and a new generation of African entrepreneurs capable of transforming ideas into sustainable businesses.

The Abdulsamad Isyaku Rabiu Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship Management will advance education, research and professional development in entrepreneurship, business management, enterprise development and innovation.

The proposed Dr. Muhammadu Indimi Faculty of Science and Technology reflects the University's commitment to scientific advancement, technology, research and the development of practical solutions for emerging societal challenges.

The Senator Abdul'Aziz Abubakar Yari Faculty of Management and Social Sciences will provide an academic platform for advancing knowledge in management, governance, social sciences, leadership and related disciplines.

The University will equally establish the Alhaji Auwalu A. Rano Centre for National Development and Manpower Improvement, dedicated to research and interventions addressing human-capital development and the broader challenges of national development.

These names are not intended merely to adorn buildings or appear on signboards.

StandTall University intends to transform them into living academic legacies — places where students will learn, researchers will investigate problems, entrepreneurs will develop ideas, scholars will collaborate, and solutions capable of improving society will emerge.

The University believes that one of the greatest ways to honour achievement is to transform individual legacies into institutions that create opportunities for generations yet unborn.

We are preserving legacies by building institutions.

ATIKU ABUBAKAR'S KEYNOTE: AFRICAN UNIVERSITIES MUST BECOME CENTRES FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS

What Should the African University of the Future Look Like?

This was one of the defining questions at the historic investiture of the Founding Chancellor of StandTall University.

In a keynote address titled “The Future of Education, Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and National Development in Nigeria and Africa,” His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, GCON, Waziri Adamawa, former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and 2027 Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presented a compelling vision of what education must become if Africa is to fulfil its enormous potential.

The address, delivered on his behalf by Alhaji Musa Halilu Ahmed, Zannah Dujima of Adamawa, argued that education must go beyond certificates and qualifications. African universities must become places where knowledge is transformed into solutions, research into innovation, and ideas into enterprises capable of creating employment and improving society.

The keynote challenged universities to confront real problems in agriculture, healthcare, housing, governance, financial inclusion, employment, peace-building and the digital economy. It also called for a stronger culture of applied research and challenged African institutions to measure their impact not simply by the number of graduates they produce, but by the number of problems they solve.

The address further emphasised technology as one of the defining forces of the modern age. Africa, it argued, cannot remain predominantly a consumer of technologies developed elsewhere. Our universities must help raise a generation of creators, innovators and owners of knowledge.

For StandTall University, this was more than a keynote address. It was a challenge to the institution itself: to build a university that is African in identity, global in standard and solution-driven in purpose.

It is a challenge we embrace.

At StandTall University, knowledge must not end in the classroom. Knowledge must become solutions.

A New Chapter Begins for StandTall University

Saturday, 25 July 2026 marked a defining moment in the history of StandTall University as His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, PhD, CFR, the 12th Lamido Fombina, Premier Ruler of Adamawa and Chairman of the Adamawa State Council of Emirs and Chiefs, formally accepted his investiture as the Founding Chancellor of StandTall University.

The historic ceremony, held at the B.O. Ukeje Auditorium of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), Abuja, brought together traditional rulers, government officials, academics, education stakeholders, development partners, captains of industry and friends of the University to witness the beginning of an important chapter in its institutional journey.

The choice of His Royal Majesty reflects the kind of leadership StandTall University seeks to represent. A scholar and respected traditional ruler with decades of experience in public administration, education, peace-building and community leadership, the Lamido brings to the University a heritage of service, wisdom, integrity and commitment to national unity.

During the Founder's Conferral Address, the University reaffirmed that its ambition is not merely to produce graduates, but to raise leaders of character, innovators, entrepreneurs and responsible citizens capable of contributing practical solutions to the challenges confronting Nigeria and Africa.

His Royal Majesty's acceptance of the investiture therefore represents much more than the assumption of a ceremonial office. It establishes a relationship between one of Nigeria's respected traditional institutions and a University seeking to combine Africa's values and heritage with research, technology, innovation and globally competitive education.

As Founding Chancellor, the Lamido becomes an important symbol of the values, aspirations and institutional heritage upon which generations of StandTall University students will be raised.

A Chancellor has been invested. A new chapter has begun. And a legacy for generations is taking shape.
