Happy Democracy Day, Nigeria 🇳🇬

Democracy is strongest when every voice matters and every person has a place. As we celebrate Nigeria's democratic journey, we are reminded that true progress is measured not only by freedom and elections, but by the extent to which equity, equality, and inclusion are reflected in the lives of all citizens.

At Cedar Seed Foundation, we believe that people with disabilities are not on the margins of society-they are essential contributors to our shared future. A truly democratic Nigeria is one where barriers are removed, rights are protected, opportunities are accessible, and no one is left behind.

As we mark this day, may we continue to build a nation where diversity is embraced, dignity is upheld, and every Nigerian can thrive regardless of ability, background, or circumstance.

Democracy is people. Inclusion is POWER. Together, we can build a Nigeria where everyone belongs and every voice counts.

Being included is not a small kindness.
It is a signal that your presence matters.

And when people feel they matter, they show up with more confidence, more voice, and more hope.

Stephen Hawking’s story is not a fairy tale about “overcoming” for applause.
It is a reminder that a disability does not cancel a person’s mind, voice, or contribution.

He lived with progressive disability, shaped modern scientific conversation, and left a global mark that still echoes far beyond physics.

One of the biggest barriers many people face is disbelief.

“You don’t look disabled.”
“You seem fine.”
“You’re probably exaggerating.”

Invisible disabilities are still real.
And compassion should not require visible proof before it appears.

Awareness matters.
But awareness without action changes nothing.

Every barrier people with disabilities face has a human solution attached to it.

The question is:
Are we willing to build a society that includes everyone intentionally?

A Courtesy Visit to Nigeria Data Protection Commission Strengthen Digital Rights & Inclusion.

On May 14, 2026, Cedar Seed Foundation (CSF) paid a strategic courtesy visit to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission to explore collaboration on digital safety, data protection, and privacy for persons with disabilities under the Luminate Project. The CSF delegation, led by its Founder/CEO, Lois Auta, was received on behalf of the Commission’s leadership by Barr. Saratu Samande, representing the National Commissioner/CEO, Vincent Olatunji.

During the visit, Ms. Auta highlighted CSF’s commitment to building an inclusive society where persons with disabilities can safely participate in the digital space. Discussions focused on the provisions of the Nigeria Data Protection Act (2023) and the need to strengthen data privacy, cybersecurity, and digital rights for vulnerable groups. The NDPC emphasized that data relating to persons with disabilities is classified as sensitive personal data and must be handled with strict care to prevent discrimination and stigmatization. The importance of informed consent, inclusive policies, and accessible communication was also underscored.

CSF representatives further advocated for the production of the Act in accessible formats such as Braille and the implementation of inclusive opportunities, including employment quotas for persons with disabilities. The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to inclusion and highlighted ongoing efforts, including the availability of the Act in major Nigerian languages and the need for tailored digital literacy and data protection training.

The visit concluded with the presentation of key NDPC publications to CSF and a shared commitment to future collaboration. Both organizations agreed to work together on initiatives that will promote digital safety training, accessible information, and inclusive participation in data governance. CSF also expressed appreciation to Luminate and NDPC for their support and partnership in advancing the rights and protection of persons with disabilities in Nigeria.
