Today is Democracy Day Nigeria. 💙

June 12th.

A day that reminds us that democracy is not just a system
of government.

It is a promise.

A promise that every voice matters.
That every community deserves to be heard.
That every young person has the right to participate in the decisions that shape their future.

At Kiajer Youth Empowerment Initiative, that promise is
personal to us.

Because the young people we work with every day in communities across Nigeria are the same young people who are too often left out of the rooms where decisions are made.

Left out of policy conversations.
Left out of budget allocations.
Left out of the future that is being built in their name.

At The Takeover, we did something small but significant.

We put secondary school students in those rooms.

And what they said reminded every adult present that democracy does not wait for young people to grow up.

It needs them now.

It needs their ideas.
Their energy.
Their ability to see solutions that older generations have stopped imagining.

Happy Democracy Day Nigeria. 💙

May this country keep building toward a democracy where every young person has a seat at the table.

Not tomorrow.

Today. 🌍

Our Founder, Dr. Tina Orode King recently joined Global TV , Women's World programme for a live session on something Nigeria needs to talk about more honestly. 💙

Insecurity and its hidden impact on families, children and communities.

Not the headlines.
Not the government response.

The part nobody talks about.

What happens to the girl who stops going to school because the road is no longer safe.

What happens to the family that absorbs the cost of insecurity every single day with no support.

What happens to a community when fear becomes the loudest voice in the room.

At Kiajer Youth Empowerment Initiative we see this in the communities we serve.

And Tina Orode King brings that ground-level truth to this national conversation.

MYTH vs FACT. 💙

🔴 MYTH:
Young people need experience before they can lead.

🟢 FACT:
Young people gain experience by being given opportunities to lead.

One of the most costly mistakes we make as a society is waiting until young people are considered ready before trusting them with responsibility.

Confidence is not built in waiting.
It is built in doing.
Leadership is not learned in preparation.
It is learned in participation.

At Kiajer Youth Empowerment Initiative we do not ask young people to prove themselves before we give them the room.

We give them the room and watch them prove themselves.

We saw it at The Takeover.

Secondary school students walked into our office on Children's Day, assumed real leadership roles, and led a full professional session on education, gender equality, community development and youth empowerment.

Nobody in that room doubted them for a single moment.

Because they were never the problem.

The closed doors were. 💙

💙 Monday Motivation

A question for every young person this morning:
If fear was not a factor, what would you start this week?

Many dreams don't fail because people lack talent.
They fail because people wait too long for the perfect moment.
The truth is, there is no perfect moment.
There is only the decision to begin.

This week:
✅ Apply for that opportunity
✅ Learn that skill
✅ Start that project
✅ Ask that question
✅ Take that first step

To every young person building a future from where they are right now — keep going.

To every young girl with a dream bigger than her circumstances — keep believing.

The communities we serve continue to remind us that extraordinary things happen when ordinary people decide to take action.

You don't need to have everything figured out.
You just need to start.

💬 Tell us in the comments:
What is ONE thing you are committing to this week?

Today is World Environment Day 2026. 🌱💙

And the message from the global community is clear and urgent.

Now for climate.
Not later. Not eventually.
Now.

At Kiajer Youth Empowerment Initiative , we understand that the communities we serve areoften the first to feel the impact of environmental degradation.

Girls who walk miles for water instead of sitting in classrooms.
Communities where poor sanitation and environmental neglect directly reduce opportunities for young people.

Families whose livelihoods depend on an environment that is rapidly changing around them.

Environmental action is not separate from our mission.

It is part of it.

Today we took that commitment beyond words.

We planted trees with school children in our community because we believe that every young person who plants a tree understands something powerful.

That the future belongs to those who prepare it. 🌍

To every school, organisation and community choosing to act for climate today — we see you.
We stand with you.

Now for climate. 💚

We are still thinking about what these three said. 💙

Last week at The Takeover — Kiajer Youth Empowerment Initiative Children's Day Leadership Experience 2026 — secondary school students walked into our office and took over completely.

At the close of the session three of them said something that silenced every adult in the room.

Not because it was rehearsed.
But because it was true.
Deeply. Painfully. Beautifully true.

Student 1 stood up and said:

"We are not the leaders of tomorrow.
We are the leaders of today.
We have ideas. We have energy.
We have the ability to see problems in our communities and imagine
solutions that the generation before us has not thought of yet.
All we need is for someone to give us the room."

Then Student 2 looked at
the room and said:

"Kiajer gave us this room today.
And we want every young person watching this to know that there
is an organisation in Nigeria that believes in you.
That will show up for your community.
That will come back a year later to find out what you built.
That will put you at the table and trust you to lead."

And then Student 3.

In a voice steadier than anyone expected from someone so young,
said the words that nobody in that room will ever forget:

"We are not a problem to be solved.
We are a solution waiting to be activated.
And we are just getting started."

Read those three statements again.

These are secondary school students.

Not university graduates.
Not policy makers.
Not seasoned advocates.

Young people who were given a room, a platform, and the freedom to say exactly what they needed to say.

And they said it with more clarity, more conviction, and more vision than rooms full of adults manage every day.

This is not a feel-good story.

This is evidence.

Evidence that the young people in our communities are not waiting to be developed.

They are waiting for organisations brave enough to develop alongside them. 💙

💙 MYTH vs FACT

🔴 MYTH:
Supporting girls means ignoring boys.

🟢 FACT:
Strong communities invest in all young people, ensuring that both girls and boys have access to opportunities.

At Kiajer Youth Empowerment Initiative, we believe community transformation happens when no young person is left behind.

Girls deserve access to education, safety, mentorship, and opportunity.

Boys deserve access to education, guidance, positive role models, and the support they need to thrive.

Empowerment is not a competition.

It is an investment in the future of our communities.

When we create opportunities for girls and boys to learn, lead, and succeed, everyone benefits.

What is one thing every young person in your community needs more access to today?

If you could improve one thing for young people in your community today, what would it be?. 💙👇

Happy New Month! 💙

Welcome to June.

A fresh start. A new opportunity to show up for the communities
and young people who need us most.

May was powerful. The Takeover happened. Stories were told.
Women were honoured. Young people led rooms that were built for them.

June carries all of that forward.

At Kiajer Youth Empowerment Initiative we do not slow down
between months.

We build. 💚

Happy Monday and Happy New Month from all of us at Kiajer YEI.
