IFA is an innovative and consistent leader within the Disability community as well as in the democracy and governance space with a wide network of allies, stakeholders and various PWD groups nationally which are instrumental to the success of its programs. IFA through its projects conducted Africa’s first, second and third accessibility audits of polling units by PWDs in Edo, Ondo and Kogi states

in Nigeria and made independent voting for Blind voters possible through the design of the braille ballot guide. IFA developed and launched a manual on the engagement of Sign language Interpreters during elections in Nigeria. IFA trained approximately 800 persons with disabilities on voter’s rights education during the Edo and Ondo 2020 gubernatorial elections. IFA through the Music for Toilet campaign provided 4 solar-powered boreholes which are currently serving over 8,000 people in Zawan, Gindiri and Bassa communities in Plateau state. The campaign also provided 20 accessible toilet facilities in School for the Blind Gindiri to promote enrollment of Children with Disabilities (CWDs) and restoring the dignity of Girls with Disabilities during their menstrual cycles.

The session came alive through the active participation and engagement of participants, who brought their experiences, perspectives, and bold ideas into the conversation.

Building on the insights from the Digital Rights Advocacy, Activism, and Security Capacity Building training, participants took the floor to share reflections, ask critical questions, and present practical approaches to applying digital strategies within their organisations. From identifying advocacy gaps to proposing innovative ways to use digital platforms for visibility and influence, the exchanges were rich, thoughtful, and solution-driven.

These presentations not only reinforced learning but also created a space for peer-to-peer knowledge sharing, collaboration, and collective problem-solving, strengthening the community of practice within the programme.

As the day drew to a close, it was clear that the journey had moved beyond theory into action. Participants left not just with knowledge, but with clarity, confidence, and a renewed commitment to advancing inclusive advocacy in both physical and digital spaces.

A day of learning, sharing, and co-creation, setting the tone for deeper impact ahead.

The Rights in Action (RIA) journey deepened as participants engaged in a powerful session on Digital Rights Advocacy, Activism, and Security Capacity Building, a strategic approach to advancing social justice in Nigeria.

Facilitated by Folorunsho Samuel, Executive Director of Legis360, Centre for Advocacy, Development and Public Enlightenment Initiatives, alongside Ololade Ajayi, Head of Finance and Admin, the session unpacked the critical role of digital spaces in modern advocacy.

Participants were guided through practical strategies for leveraging digital platforms to amplify voices, protect rights, and drive meaningful change, while also strengthening their awareness of digital security and safety in an increasingly complex online environment.

The session reinforced a clear message: effective advocacy today requires not only strong voices, but also the digital knowledge and security awareness to sustain impact.

Because social justice in today’s world is not only fought on the ground, it is advanced, protected, and amplified in digital spaces.

The Rights in Action (RIA) journey continues, not just in learning, but in reflection, alignment, and co-creation.

Today, 30th May 2026, mentors and facilitators of the Inclusive Capacity Accelerator Hub (ICAH) reconvened for a debrief and co-creation meeting, a critical moment to assess progress, share insights, and intentionally shape the next phase of strengthening Organisations of Persons with Disabilities.

Convened by the Inclusive Friends Association (IFA) in partnership with JONAPWD, today’s session focuses on Digital Rights Advocacy, Activism, and Security Capacity Building, equipping participants with the knowledge and tools to navigate digital spaces safely, amplify advocacy efforts, and advance social justice in Nigeria.

Powered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Finland, through CBM Global Disability Inclusion, this initiative reinforces the importance of inclusive digital engagement, ensuring that Organisations of Persons with Disabilities are not only represented, but protected and effective in an evolving digital landscape.

Because in today’s world, advocacy goes beyond physical spaces, it thrives where voices are amplified, rights are defended, and digital security is prioritised for lasting impact.

Day Two of the Rights in Action (RIA) journey advanced into a highly practical learning phase as participants engaged in an intensive session on Programme Management.

Facilitated by Muhammed Murtala, Program Manager, Health Advocacy at CISLAC, the session provided a comprehensive breakdown of what it truly takes to design, manage, and deliver impactful projects.

Participants explored the full project cycle management process, from identifying real needs within communities to planning with clear objectives, implementing with coordination and inclusivity, and ensuring continuous monitoring, evaluation, and learning.

The session went further to unpack:

- Workplan development as a tool for translating ideas into actionable steps with defined timelines, roles, and resources
- Quality assurance as a proactive approach to maintaining standards and improving project outcomes
- Risk management as a critical process for anticipating challenges, reducing uncertainty, and strengthening project resilience
- Reporting standards and donor expectations, reinforcing accountability, transparency, and effective communication of impact

Through practical insights and real-world examples, participants gained a clearer understanding that effective programme management is not just about planning, it is about structure, accountability, adaptability, and results.

This session didn’t just build knowledge; it strengthened the capacity of organisations to design and implement projects that are inclusive, strategic, and sustainable.

Because impactful change is not accidental, it is well planned, well managed, and consistently improved.

Day Two of the Rights in Action (RIA) journey carried forward the energy and purpose as the Inclusive Friends Association (IFA) reconvened the Inclusive Capacity Accelerator Hub (ICAH), a Training and Mentorship Programme focused on strengthening Organisations of Persons with Disabilities.

The day began with a reflective and engaging recap led by Oluwaseyi Moses, IFA Program Manager, who guided participants through key learnings from Day One, what stood out, what was gained, and, more importantly, what could be applied moving forward.

This moment of reflection was more than a summary; it was a reset for deeper impact, encouraging participants to connect knowledge with action and identify practical steps for strengthening their organisations.

Participants actively shared insights, lessons, and personal takeaways, creating a dynamic exchange that not only reinforced learning but also built renewed energy for the day ahead.

With minds sharpened and commitment strengthened, Day Two was set on a clear path: moving from learning to application, and from ideas to impact.

The Inclusive Capacity Accelerator Hub (ICAH), a Training and Mentorship Programme under the Rights in Action (RIA) project, was more than a gathering. It was a convergence of purpose, people, and possibility.

From powerful opening reflections to immersive learning sessions, from shared experiences to practical skill-building, every moment was intentional, designed to strengthen Organisations of Persons with Disabilities to lead, influence, and sustain impact.

This was a space where ideas were challenged, capacities were deepened, and collaboration took centre stage. A space where mentorship met action, and where learning translated into real tools for change.

What made it truly significant was not just what was discussed, but what was ignited: renewed commitment, stronger networks, and a clearer pathway toward a more inclusive and representative disability movement.

Because when the right people come together with a shared vision, transformation is not just possible, it is inevitable.

The session moved from intention to deep learning as expert facilitators from the Cleen Foundation led participants through critical areas essential for organisational growth and impact.

Dr. Salaudeen Hashim, Director of Programs at CLEEN Foundation, alongside Mr. Nnamdi Odo and Mrs. Chigozim Okoro, delivered rich, practical sessions on Proposal Writing, Resource Mobilisation, and Advocacy Campaigns as Tools for Change.

Participants were taken beyond theory into real understanding, breaking down what it truly means to craft a compelling proposal: identifying problems clearly, aligning ideas with funder priorities, and presenting solutions that are both strategic and impactful.

The conversation on resource mobilisation challenged organisations to think beyond traditional funding, exploring sustainability, partnership building, and innovative ways to attract and manage resources effectively.

On advocacy, the session emphasised that change does not happen by chance. It is driven by intentional, well-structured campaigns that amplify voices, influence decision-makers, and push for systemic transformation. Participants explored how to design advocacy strategies that are targeted, evidence-based, and rooted in the lived realities of the communities they represent.

This was not just knowledge sharing, it was a hands-on learning experience, equipping organisations with practical tools to strengthen their voice, expand their reach, and drive meaningful change.

Because when organisations are equipped with the right skills, they don’t just participate, they lead.
