Women’s Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative - WRAPA Nigeria WRAPA advocates for the protection of women's rights against all forms of repugnant practices. Women MUST live life with dignity and confidence.

The acronym WRAPA means different things to different people as we were told. It symbolizes the ordinary “wrapa” (one piece cloth) worn by the women folk, worn by all Nigerian women, thereby underscoring its national outlook and impact. It is a rights based NGO seeking to influence recognition and respect as well as the acceleration of the enjoyment of women’s rights as guaranteed by the 1999 Cons

titution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, religious and cultural laws as well as international laws and treaties that Nigeria is signatory to. A 37 persons/member Committee Chaired by Professor Jadesola Akande, produced a blueprint of a sustainable intervention aimed at achieving social justice for women.

Every lasting impact begins with a strong foundation. At WRAPA, we know that advancing the rights of women and building a more just society requires an institution that is resilient, accountable, and prepared for the future.

From reviewing the WRAPA Constitution through the Executive Board of Trustees to developing a 10-year Strategic Plan, we have been intentional about strengthening our institution for the challenges and opportunities ahead.

This journey of organizational strengthening recently brought all WRAPA staff together for a three-day Governance Drill-Down Training, an opportunity to deepen our understanding of governance, accountability, leadership, and the values that guide our work.

Strong institutions are not built by chance. They are built through continuous learning, reflection, and a shared commitment to excellence.

As we continue this journey, we remain focused on building a stronger WRAPA, better equipped to advance the rights of women, promote justice, and create lasting impact for generations to come.

When “being a man” becomes an excuse for cruelty, mocking women, shutting down emotions, or bullying anyone who shows vulnerability, that’s not masculinity anymore.

If we want safer communities, better relationships, and a healthier online culture, men need to unlearn these patterns and start redefining strength as empathy, respect, and accountability.

As we celebrate Eid, may this blessed season bring peace to our homes, compassion to our communities, and renewed hope for a more just and equitable society.

As we reflect on the values of sacrifice, kindness, and unity, may we continue to uphold the dignity, rights, and wellbeing of women, children, and families everywhere.

We also remember families affected by conflict and insecurity, especially children who have been abducted or displaced. We pray for their protection, healing, and safe reunion with their loved ones.

Eid Mubarak from all of us at WRAPA. 🌙✨

Today marks a significant milestone in WRAPA’s continued commitment to promoting social justice, peaceful families, and the prevention of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) through faith-based engagement and advocacy.

In partnership with the Centre for Islamic Civilization and Interfaith Dialogue (CICID), Bayero University Kano, WRAPA proudly hosted the National Public Presentation and Launch of the revised 2nd Edition of the WRAPA Khutbah Collection Book.

The gathering brought together respected Ulama, Imams, academics, Kadis, Grand Kadis, and development partners in a shared commitment to addressing contemporary family and societal challenges affecting Muslim communities through informed Islamic guidance.

More than a book launch, today’s event reflects the power of knowledge, dialogue, and faith-based leadership in shaping safer homes, stronger families, and more just communities.

As conversations around family values, social justice, and the protection of women and girls continue to evolve, this revised edition stands as a timely resource for advocacy, awareness, and community transformation.
