Earth Hour is a global WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) climate change initiative that invites Individuals, businesses, governments and communities to turn out their lights for one hour on Saturday March 31, 2012 at 8:30pm to show their support for action on climate change and encourage sustainable living. In 2011 Earth Hour reached over 1.8 billion people, with more than 5200 cities and towns tak
ing part in 135 countries across every continent. It has been described by media as ‘the World’s largest campaign for the planet’. For 2012, the desire to engage the Earth Hour community and Nigeria even further is at the heart of our aspirations, and to do this on a scale that has the potential for driving results. We are consolidating on 2011, to incentivize action, create social capital around being part of a sustainable future, and move the subject of sustainability into the centre of millions of peoples’ daily lives. Consequently, we are challenging Governments, Individuals, Corporates, Schools and Ambassadors to help in saving our environment. Its a simple promise and challenge - "I Will If You Will". It provides the
incentive and the mechanism for people, companies and organisations to go beyond the hour and importantly, talk about it.
