Media Coalition and Awareness to Halt Trafficking

Brainstorming meetings were held by MeCAHT and valued partner EXIST this month across three days and varying locations, including the MeCAHT Office, Daughters of Abraham Foundation and The Sarina Project

The meetings were held to discuss Phase 2 of the SHE-LEADS initiative, with a focus on exploring ways to further empower survivors who participated in SHE-LEADS 1 by equipping them with diverse skills that can enable them to become self-reliant.

These discussions focused on key activities, including screening and selecting survivors who will participate in the training, identifying relevant skills, and structuring the training into smaller, specific areas based on the individual needs and interests of the survivors.

The brainstorming sessions also provided an opportunity for MeCAHT and EXIST to share ideas and develop practical approaches for ensuring that SHE-LEADS 2 builds effectively on the achievements and lessons learned from SHE-LEADS 1.

It was a pleasure to welcome our good friends and partners Karin, James, & Malene from Media Coalition and Awareness to Halt Trafficking, EXIST vil stoppe menneskehandel and Rotaract to the Embassy yesterday.

We had a great conversation on our shared work, the opportunities ahead and how we can continue working together to make a meaningful difference.

We value these partnerships and look forward to doing more together.

As we met, we also remembered Anne Abok, founder of MeCAHT and a fantastic, resourceful women who did so much for so many.

The Greater Love Lighthouse (GLL) Safehouse received staff members from the Women Trafficking and Child Labour Eradication Foundation (WOTCLEF) on a condolence visit following the passing of our International Director, Reverend Anne Abok.

During the visit, the WOTCLEF team encouraged the girls during this period of profound grief. They shared that Anne’s passing had left a great void not only within MeCAHT but also in the hearts of everyone at WOTCLEF, reflecting the impact of her life and work.

The staff encouraged the Treasures not to dwell on the loss for too long but instead to honour Anne’s memory by upholding the legacy she left behind. They reminded the girls to remain focused on their rehabilitation and personal development programmes, emphasizing that this was what Anne would have desired for them.

The visit concluded with prayers for the girls and for the entire MeCAHT family. As a gesture of love and support, the WOTCLEF team also presented the girls with a pack of soft drinks.

MeCAHT had the honour of attending the official launch of the Vocational Skills Training Programme organized by Secure D Future International Initiative (SDF) in Abuja.

Representing our Executive Director, our team delivered a goodwill message, reaffirming MeCAHT’s commitment to the rehabilitation and empowerment of survivors and other vulnerable persons through sustainable livelihood opportunities.

A major highlight of the event was the practical skills showcase by the trainees. Three groups demonstrated impressive talents in makeup artistry, photography, and male barbing services, reflecting the transformative impact of vocational skills in promoting self-reliance and economic empowerment.

MeCAHT commends Secure D Future International Initiative for this laudable initiative and looks forward to continued collaboration in creating opportunities that restore dignity, build resilience, and secure brighter futures for vulnerable individuals.
