In continuation of efforts to strengthen emergency preparedness, with technical support from UNICEF Nigeria and funding from EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid ECHO, We trained 25 SEMA staff in Jigawa State under the SRSP Project.

The two-day training focused on stock management, safe storage, documentation, accountability and timely decision-making to strengthen readiness for future shocks and disasters.

In Jigawa State, 30 NYSC Members were equipped with practical knowledge and skills on disaster preparedness, Anticipatory Action and early action ahead of predictable hazards, particularly flooding.

The training, conducted by the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) with technical support from UNICEF Nigeria and funding from EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid also introduced participants to Flood Alert IEC materials to support wider community awareness and preparedness.

Under the Shock Responsive Social Protection (SRSP) project supported by UNICEF Nigeria and funded by the EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid We conducted radio engagements on Triming Radio 96.3 FM, Auyo, and New World 95.5 FM, Dutse, to strengthen community awareness on logistics preparedness, disaster readiness and the domestication of the Community Emergency Response Plan (CERP).

The sessions highlighted practical actions before, during and after disasters, the importance of emergency stockpiling and coordinated community response, while providing listeners with an opportunity to ask questions and engage on preparedness measures.

Clean communities, safer communities.

Community-Based Disaster Risk Committees (CBDRCs), Red Cross Volunteers and community members in Odi and Kaiama, Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA of Bayelsa State, carried out sanitation exercises to clear blocked gutters, drainage channels and waste.
