Mentors are an essential ingredient in discovering, nurturing and releasing the creative abilities within individuals for the common good of all. Social Entrepreneurship being a fairly young field is one of those areas where having good mentors makes a world of a difference. I count myself blessed to have had the best of mentors ever since I made my foray into the social impact space. My mentors have helped me grow as a person through recommended book readings, partnerships, referrals, and the list goes on. However, as we all know "To whom much is given, much is expected." And so I have decided to start a formal process of mentoring other young, dynamic and ambitious people committed to making an impact through their lives.
Through this program I call "Mentor 2 Impact" I am looking for 10 passionate people with fire in their eyes and a spring in their step. A lot of people have reached out to me for mentorship and so I decided this time to start a formal process that I can commit to. The idea is to create a multiplier effect through this process. The first 10 people who will be privileged to come on board will also commit to mentor the next 10 people (1-to-1). We will continue to ride on these ripples until we have built a strong network of Mentors leading Mentees to create Sustainable Impact in their communities.
Remember I am doing this of my own volition so the selection process will be very rigorous! I need self-driven people who will commit to reading the books I ask them to read, coming up with their plans of action amidst other things. Some of the things I want to help you do are;
-Assist you in preparing a one-year plan for 2017.
-Help you go from from idea to ex*****on of your social innovation. This will include Need Verification/Solution Design, Business Model validation, Building and Scaling your organization and the Dissemination of your Social Innovation (courtesy of my Professors at the INSEAD Social Entrepreneurship programme). However, If you have already left the idea stage then the better for both of us. That way we will focus on the other sections of the Social Innovation lifecycle.
-Help you grow your Social Capital.
-Share opportunities for professional development
-Form a Mastermind group of 10 social entrepreneurs who will serve as Accountability partners to each other as we move towards achieving our 2017 goals and beyond.
-Equip you to become an effective mentor to others and much more.
-More importantly, I need people I can also learn from and get to share your amazing stories with the rest of the world.
The deadline for the application process is December 15, 2016. Successful applicants will be contacted latest by December 20, 2016. If you don't hear from me by email by then you can rightly conclude that your application wasn't successful and try again when I launch the next round of applications on June 1, 2017.
