Yesterday, 29 September 2026, Caritas Nigeria concluded a two-day inception meeting for the Building Sustainable Livelihoods for Vibrant Communities (B-SLiC) Phase 3 Project, funded by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. The meeting, which began with a Holy Mass, brought together existing and newly onboarded religious congregations and project staff to strengthen collaboration, share experiences, and advance community development.

In his opening remarks, the Executive Secretary/CEO of , Rev. Fr Peter Audu underscored the importance of partnership, human dignity, community ownership, and sustainable livelihoods, while expressing appreciation to the .Hilton Foundation for its continued support.

The Director of Humanitarian Services and Early Recovery, Nkese Maria Udongwo, highlighted the objectives of the meeting and encouraged participating Religious Congregations to look beyond B-SLiC by exploring and applying for other funding opportunities to expand their development impact. She noted that ’s capacity-strengthening efforts over the past four years have equipped partners with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to pursue broader opportunities, while encouraging the newly onboarded partners to embrace the learning and collaboration opportunities ahead.

B-SLiC Phase 3 marks a significant expansion of the project into four additional states, Akwa Ibom, Enugu, Edo, and Ondo, and welcomes four new Religious Congregations: The Carmelite Missionary Sisters (CM), Adoration Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (SSH), Daughters of Divine Love (DDL), and Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus (HHCJ).

Throughout the meeting, partners and project teams reviewed implementation plans, shared lessons from previous phases, strengthened safeguarding and accountability mechanisms, and explored innovative approaches to promoting sustainable livelihoods and resilient communities.

Recently, Caritas Nigeria, with funding from UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, successfully conducted a Digital Kids Club Certification Ceremony for learners from St. Peter's Primary School I Adagom, St. Peter's Primary School II Adagom, and St. Eugene Primary School Ukende all in Cross River State . The ceremony marked the successful completion of the first cohort of the Digital Kids Club sessions.

The cohort targeted pupils from Primary 2 to Primary 6, with 40 learners randomly selected for each session.
Participants were introduced to foundational ICT skills, including computer appreciation, basic digital literacy, interactive learning, and hands-on practical exercises.

Learners and school authorities expressed appreciation for the continued support of Caritas Nigeria, UNHCR and Profuturo. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates to the participating learners, encouraging them to apply and further develop the digital knowledge and skills acquired.

Yesterday, 22 September 2026, our Executive Secretary/CEO, Fr Peter Audu, received a delegation from Catholic Action Nigeria (CA-N), led by its Chairman, Peter Agbontaen, at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Abuja. The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration among Church organizations to promote peaceful, free, and fair elections.

Discussions centered on voter mobilization, election observation, vote protection, and effective coordination of observers. The Catholic Church reaffirmed its non-partisan position and commitment to supporting credible electoral processes through prayer and practical action.

As part of Caritas Nigeria’s 16th Anniversary celebration themed “Building Hope, Strengthening Communities,” our team in Adikpo, Benue State, participated in the celebration with a Thanksgiving Mass, giving thanks for 16 years of service, compassion, and impact in communities across Nigeria.

The team paid a courtesy visit to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Adikpo Police Division, reaffirming the importance of collaboration and strong community partnerships. The DPO warmly received the team and pledged continued support for Caritas Nigeria’s work in strengthening and transforming lives in the community.

Today at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria in Abuja, the Management and Staff of Caritas Nigeria joyfully celebrated its 16th anniversary of serving humanity with a Holy Mass of thanksgiving. In his homily, the Secretary General, Rev. Fr. Michael Banjo, highlighted the organization’s years of dedicated service to the poor, the vulnerable, and communities in need, as well as its commitment to promoting human dignity, compassion, and hope through its humanitarian and development interventions.

The Holy Mass was followed by a special Thanksgiving to God for 16 years of impact and service. Caritas Nigeria staff, together with the agencies of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), joined in giving thanks to God for the journey so far, celebrating the lives touched and communities supported through the organisation’s work across Nigeria.

In his response, the Executive Secretary, Rev. Fr Peter Audu, expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for His continued guidance and blessings upon Caritas Nigeria. He also appreciated the CBCN, his brother priests, the Management and Staff of Caritas Nigeria, and the CBCN agencies for their love, partnership and support over the years. He reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to strengthening its service to humanity and reaching more people with dignity, compassion and hope.
